Title: Trouble with thrax
Post by: Yawgmoth85 on November 25, 2013, 08:54:27 PM
Trying to get a {thraximundar} deck going but having trouble on selecting a main strategy for it. Tryed a splash of mill to slow down the games but was iffy in multi. Any card suggestions or particular favorites for thrax? Budget is appreciated

{Thraximundar} decks I've seen have either been Zombie token swarm, or Voltron decks. You could build a Stax deck around it if that's more your style.

Zombie tribal is an option. Plus, you're in the colors for {Conspiracy} and {Rooftop Storm, so you can run non-Zombies as well and cast them for 0. You can also go the way of my crappy combo and throw in {Haakon, Stromgald Scourge} and {Ashes of the Fallen} naming Knight. That way, you can throw your graveyard onto the table for free.

Sacs though seem to work too. I'm interested in this thread I've been having a similar issue, but now it looks like I'm gonna use
Oloro

What I've been rolling around with is a sac idea. {gutless ghoul} {butcher of malikar} {grave pact} combo ideas. Any other sac trigger abilities that are favs amongst anybody? Zombie tribal is probaly the likely creature choice. But I'll be honest {endless ranks of the dead} surprisingly hasn't been a big a boost as I believed it would be.

Some personal death-triggered favorites in Thrax's colors are {Faces of the Past} (great with cards like {Cemetary Reaper}), {Burning Sands} (a.k.a. nobody kill anything or else), and the new {Dark Prophecy}. Also, in regard to your sac outlets, I prefer guys like {Viscera Seer}, who allow me to trigger the above stuff for free whenever I want.

I leave you with {Blood Artist} + {Gravecrawler} + {Rooftop Storm}, in case you didn't know already. FATALITY.

Never imagined the blood artist combo thanks a lot. Already have a lot of these and will make amazing additions

With causing opponents to sacrifice so many creatures, or at least trying to, why not get them back under your control as a zombie through  {Grave Betrayal}?

Had that in the first couple makes, with doing a major overhaul that may become a idea yet again. I think the mill is all coming out but will keep in { lavaz dimir mastermind} for same purposes

What's that card where you keep flipping a coin? Was it like game of chaos or something?

and with the look of this being a sac deck  {Tymaret, the Murder King} {Rakdos the Defiler}+{Strionic Resonator}+ {Illusionist's Bracers} when it deals damage to destroy all of one opponents stuff and half of anothers or just half of three opponents if u combo this with my other post u get a potential board wipe every turn that u attak with the defiler

{necroskitter} your playing what makes him good
{kulrath knight}
{crumbling ashes}
{contagion clasp}
{contagion engine}
And then just spam counters
{scar}
{glistening oil}
{ blowfly infestation}
Careful with both blowfly and crumble bad things end up happening. Then try to stack counters to control game
