Title: Singles
Post by: xStrayKnightx on November 24, 2013, 09:06:36 AM
Does anyone lose the feeling of having to trading after finding a store that sells singles?

It's probably terrible, but I just really love getting my cards nice and fast.

Not entirely. Stores with singles don't always have what you need or need what you have. Stores around here almost never take thoughtsiezes for example because so many people are getting rid of them here so I had to trade mine away. Scry lands too. Those go pretty fast here so it's not easy to buy those. Agent of the fates is another I had to wait quite some time for because he goes fast too

It helps when your lgs sells off at really weird prices... I think I saw a {scalding tarn} at $16 about a year ago before I knew about shocks. Then stuff like {Silvos, Rogue Elemental} for $8.

I find it weird when I find the same card for different prices.

I saw {hythonia the cruel} for $8.00 in the counter but I found her again, same condition and all in the cheap rares box for $2.00

I don't have a very large LGS and I collect entire playable sets hard to really trade for that so I usually just hit up SCG or Channel and just be done with it.

I only go to SCG or Channel as a last resort. There are better options to buy online.

From the orders I've had, I trust their M/NM conditions... That's why i use those two.

I prefer to trade for the cards I need and buy the ones I know no one will have in their binders. (Old stuff like {Earthcraft} and high value staples like {Dark Confidant}) my LGS has tons of inventory and also a decent group of players with great cards :) combined with people on here I usually can get what I need and buy the last pieces on eBay or my LGS .

I usually only buy if no one locally can trade and if my store doesn't have them.

This has happened recently with dregmanglers, burning tree emissarys and cacklers

Cheap singles are great, for sure, but when I trade, I'm essentially getting a card that I want for free (giving away cards I don't want/won't use). Which is even better than cheap!

I just prefer to have my cards straight away. And the store I get singles from is relatively fairly priced.
