Title: Stealing Shaz
Post by: Deebiia on November 23, 2013, 12:55:03 PM
So if I play an {Avarice Totem}, use its ability, cast {Steal Artifact} on it, and use its ability again, does it come back to my field after I've gained control of a permanent?

Good question, almost like an infinity artifact steal loop.... That would be pretty cool if it works out. I personally don't know but will definitely keep that one in my back pocket for future research

I'd love to say the enchantment trumps but I think it is a case of effect timing...

Agreed. I've been looking rules up but can't find anything. L2 Judge required.

I think the enchantment applies when cast, and since you used something afterwords to grant e card to another controller, it is then gone, I do not know if the enchantment rechecks
The enchantment will not recheck.

Continuous effects like this are determined by timestamps. Whichever control changing effect happened last is the one that will be applied.

Not sure at all, but the enchantment has to wait till avarice finishes resolving, right? So it would simply bring the totem back, avarice states noting about what happens if it's controller looses control (like exchange back) so you should have control of the first targeted artifact and an avarice with the enchantment, but you can't do that again without another steal

Woooo, I got another one!

So if he uses an ability AFTER he enchants it, he is giving it away for good.

Your on a roll! Haha

this seems like the most right answer. You switch your totem, then steal it back. But you need more steals or destoy target artifact to keep from losing it

It's just a time stamp. It's the same as putting a {mind control} on a creature that was stolen away from you using {mind control}.

Whenever a effect directly contradicts a previous one the last on takes precedence.
