So here's my standard control deck. Let me know what you guys think. I'm open to suggestions.
The {Angel of Serenity} slot was added tonight. The merit behind it was that its a wrath effect with a 5/6 body, which I thought was good. I took out 1 {Aetherling} and 1 {Disperse} to play them. What do you guys think about it?
Edit: Also, I'm playing this next Friday (Black Friday) at my LGS where first place gets the five SDCC black 'walkers, top 20 gets a random FTV:20 card, and second place gets a box of Modern Masters. So high stakes. I want this deck to be 100% for next week.
{Jace, Architect of Thought} is a must in any UWx control deck. Even 2 main and 2 side helps a lot.

Yeah seriously. Tbh I only want one so I can play it in EDH, but if I'm getting one I might as well get two. Trouble is I'm not getting one yet. 'Cause I'd rather wait for the duel deck and pay $20 for a Jace and 119 other cards for no extra cost.

Yeah. Maybe he'll go back to like $10 soon? Kinda doubt him dropping that much, but at least he isn't $30 anymore.

I'm taking note of the two current suggestions, and if I can borrow some Architects, I will. But Friday is closing in.

I would drop the 2 cyclonic rifts and try and add in 1 or 2 more land. You want to be consistently hiring land drops. I would also consider bumping the count of mizz mortars to 3 or 4 and have divination incase you can't get any AOT. 4 d-spheres!!! Lol it will help clear the board of much hate.

The rifts are fine where they are. They definitely don't need to be more lands. I rarely get mana screwed and the overload is super devastating.
Not sure how I feel about Mizzium mortars going up. As is a draw it as I need it, and for anything else there's {turn // burn}.
I feel the same about the spheres. Not quite sure what I need them for.
I've been toying with the idea of adding {Divination}, but I haven't found any room for it. Speaking of room, everyone has suggested things but no one has even begun to suggest what to take out for them, lol...

I don't think you want 4x Sphinx you need that early control hence anger and D Spheres. Few (if any) PT decks play 4x Sphinx MB bc it's not good in multiples

Want to point out that helix doesn't hit stormbreath :)
Besides that, I would cut the angel of serenity and maybe 1 sphinx's rev for 2 anger of the gods.
Also for Helix, its good but its still a 4 drop with a single target Anger stops aggro PERIOD!! It gets rid of dorks, and it stops RDW. Helix is good but I'd keep it at a 2-of

Take out a Sphinx for an Anger I think was my suggestion. When you look at Tier 1 control decks (Wafo Tapas Esper Control PT Theros) he plays 3 sphinx and really few play 4 so idk I trust Wafo Tapa

I've tried 3 revs. Some games is just never draw them and lose. And I'd rather have an abundance than occasionally not drawing them.
True if you tested it and you feel comfortable with 4 by all means go for it :D
Yeah. I'll have to see what I can work out on Friday. But I think I'll be going in with at least 2x anger.
Anger is a good call bc this format has gotten quite fast with heroic and RDW well at least my LGSs meta anyway
All of the heroic decks I've seen so far aren't anything for this deck to worry about. "Crap, you're attacking with how much? Oh wait. Overload rift, since you tapped out..."
I'd definitely like to exile some Phoenix, though...
Most heroic decks don't let you get to 7 mana ;) lol
That's what rift, charm, mortars, sphere, etc are for. =P
