It's been real guys, but I've made a decision to go on hiatus. For the most part, I love all of you. But recently, the smart-alec responses I've been getting lately are just too obnoxious to stomach anymore. I'll still be responding to PMs, but no more posts.
There's a Ban button at your disposal for snarky comments. You shouldn't have to stop contributing because of other people. Just block 'em.
I can understand where you are coming from but I would not let these kids get to you. If you let people know how you feel (which you are right now) and ask them to stop, I'm sure that they will for the most part. Anyway if you really are going, you will be missed, but like he said you could always block the posts. Idk just a thought.

I don't know what has happened in the brains of all you people. I gave a -1 because I don't like that LadyGrixis is leaving, and I don't like the theatrical, vague announcement. There is nothing wrong with me, I'm not being spiteful, I'm not any of the other bad names you've called negative karma people.
I don't like the way this was handled, and is still ongoing. -1 is the tool I've used to voice my dissent until this moment. It was done for a reason. I like Lady Grixis, I think she's funny and interesting. I don't like attention grabs and people turning on others for no reason.
She was really upset about it too. You have to think about how your actions affect others around you a lot. Often times it isn't as simple as +1 or -1. The meaning behind it gets lost especially when no words are used.
I was not willing to discuss this post. I don't appreciate posts like this. What are we supposed to do? Beg her to stay? Be here because you want to be here, not because others plead for you to hang. I've seen plenty of people leave this board with less theatrics.
If Lady Grixis is taking a hiatus, take a break, it'll probably good for you. If you want to keep posting, keep posting. No one is forcing anyone to stay here, the day that happens is the day I leave myself. Until that moment, stick to your guns and take that break; not issue a crappy statement about people dinging your karma.
I assume this might be why facebook only has like or turn back to neutral.
Karma's not a big deal y'all
Positive AND negative karma are ways of trying to nudge everyone toward more wholly worthwhile forum contribution. Negative karma should be as much a legitimate indicator of what some members don't like as LG's high karma shows she's proven she's an overall well-liked and respected member of iMtG.
Look its not my intention to turn this into a debate, white knight, or any other foul demonization that may be incited against this post.
That being said I feel as if an alternative point of view should be expressed on the matter outside of lady grixis.
I feel as if things have gotten far to logical if you will. And as considered the laws of this forum are run by logic, but there's no necessity in being logical just for being the sake of being logical.
For example. Be it wrong be it right, karma. Logic dictates as expressed by many, Don't like a post, ping it. And verily I believe to some extent it deters outright trolling and flaming. For the logical.
A lot of the members here aren't all logical, on the contrary a lot of them are nonsensical. Take Mlearner for example. Personally I think his/her ruse is rather amusing and appreciate their dedication to their ideals (reviving old threads, off the wall jokes at awkward Times) and I dare say it is the overly logical who continue to begrudge him, when by now he certainly knows what he's doing.
It is these nonsensicals, which mind you are a majority in our younger members, that being young can see the overly logical and neg karma as a sort of negative reflection of their self, or ideals.
This is not the first nor will it be the last example of someone being insulted, hurt, or even chastised because of neg karma.
Like I said be it wrong, be it right. It is how it is, and just because you think people should accept things as they are, doesn't give anyone the right to cram their ideals on anyone else either. If a nonsensical decides to accept karma as a negitive reflection of themself so be it, just as the logicals are allowed to never even gain sight of it.
Just something everyone should consider when giving neg karma without a reason.
And please, DEAR GOD, if your going to be logical be logical here. This statement is not alluding to, nor refrencing anyone besides the one mentioned within. Any attempt to troll will be in void due to my apathetic nature as this is all the effort I could muster for the day. Statements mentioned therein are a reflection of my personal opinion and should not have any bearing on how you view things. This is just my opinion of karma and community on imtg.

Pings on your post about leaving can be taken as a negative reflection of you, or a negative reflection of the subject. Perhaps the pings came out of a place of sad feels that you're leaving. No spite, or anger towards you, LG. it's always sad to see a contributing member depart.

Why exactly do you care if your "karma" is decreased? Are you in some kind of competition? Are you going to get kicked off if you go too low? I've had people neg karma me for absolutely no reason, but I'm not angry. I actually think it's pretty funny. Just imagine the pettiness of people, but don't get mad over it. There's absolutely no reason to.
Karma is a privilage this forum didn't always have. It's a nice addition that I think some people have become way to attached to. It's only a number. A persons karma is there's to dish out however they please, it's their right, unless abused. I don't regularly see people explaining why they gave negative karma, why should this be different? I just have to agree with DC here, not to fond of the purpose for the thread, or the conversation it has sparked.

First of all, this was not a "blatant grab for attention" or "dramatic" or whatever have you. This post was no different from someone coming in new and saying "Hi, my name is Sara and I like eggs (<-----pun for Mlearner!)" or "I'd like to introduce myself, I'm from the West Coast and I'm an Art student at UCLA that loves EDH (<------this one was for Gorzo!)". This post was me letting people that I care about know that I'm taking a leave of absence, and now I feel terrible because they've wrecked their Karma for my sake.
Secondly, you're all right. Karma is yours to give and take as you see fit. Just like a teacher has the power to give good or bad grades, you can give good or bad Karma. And just like a teacher, you can tell your "students" (fellow iMTGers) day in and day out that "the grades don't matter, don't worry so much about the grades, it's the material and learning that matters". But some of us take pride in our graded Karma, and it DOES hurt when, for seemingly no reason, it's taken away.
Nevertheless, I do apologize for those involved that lost anything from this thread. And yes, that second post of mine was supposed to be taken in a halfway joking manner. Next time I'll make sure to use my "Sarcasm" font.

I have to disagree. This is nothing like an intro post. It came off as essentially what some would call a "hairflip". After seeing your OP I checked your comment log to look for the "smart alec" comments you referenced and all I found was constructive feedback (some positive some negative), this all seems rather dramatic for what it is.
