Title: 3D-printing
Post by: Apathy Reactor on November 20, 2013, 07:53:37 AM
It is the coolest thing ever. You can make literally anything (out of plastic)! If I had 2k to blow right now... I know what I'd do with it

My brother had to make a fully mobile 3-d printed hand for his summer internship

I want one too, lol. I love making things, and that would just help with it. xD

They're very cool. The price will decrease as the technology gets better. I've seen some deckboxes on Etsy made from 3D printers. I also heard about how Warhammer 40k is taking a beating because of this.

Also, McDonalds wants to print toys for customers - they'd have a kiosk with a wide range of Happy Meal Toy selections, which kids could select and have ready by the time their meal is finished.

I'm on my HS robotics team, we got 1st at regionals and are going to state, so we need to step our game up. Because I am the only one who can 3D model, I have been charged with designing and modeling all the parts that we will 3D print. We only have to pay for the material because we have connections to a guy with a Makerbot 2X and he'll print it for free, so essentially a few hours of modeling, a few hours of printing, and 40 bucks, and we'll have our set of custom fitted, engraved robot parts. :D
