Sooooooooo thoughts? Tips? Ideas?
And again, I have more charms on their way. I will mess around with it a bit more when they're here. I'd like 2-3 of each charm
I don't see any real win cons here to me. I understand how the arcanist can just repeat the charms and what not but I just don't see anything here. I would say try and stick to 2 or 3 colors and start there. Helps with consistency and the building process IMO
Oh I've won being able to spam boros and Rakdos charms in play tests with my buddy. I can counter many spells and protect myself with the charms and counters. The only problem I've seen so far is in the beginning. I've messed around with spells too but I've used fuse instants in other play tests to make unstoppable arcanists. And with the bracers and resonator I can spam many charms in a single turn.
An example of one that came up in a play test with it was this. I had an arcanist countering hi and another protecting me from damage. I had one with a Boros charm and bracers on it as well as two resonators out. I tapped the arcanist (2 mana) and hit him for 4. The bracers trigger and copy the ability of casting the charm for another 4, the two resonators copy the bracers (4 mana combined for resonators) for another 2 charms hitting 4 each so 16 damage for 6 mana and if he counters it he only counters 4 damage because there's technically 4 charms on the stack, not one big chunk of damage.
It's unusual and slow at first but some nice defense but once it gets going it hits hard!
I had another with a Rakdos charm against a weenie deck of his. Huge hits on him from the "creatures deal 1 damage to their controller"
I've played with proxy lands to try different combos and we found scry and shock work well in it but until turn 4 I'm a little bit open unless I can get a counter charm by turn two.
It seems weak because its only charms xD but don't underestimate the ability to cast them over and over lol once the arcanists are out it's very flexible. I can make his creatures kill him. I can blast him with boros charms, I can hit with an army of indestructible arcanists, I can keep countering them creating an army of ooze while still preventing damage and countering spells
My big problem is the first 4-5 turns. Any idea how to speed this up, or slow them down?
I really agree with the guy saying to cut it down to 3 colors. Otherwise it just gets too Inconsistant and if all your lands (or atleast a large ammount) are coming in tapped, Aggro decks will run over you by turn 4-5. If I were you I would choose U/W/R as all their charms are very powerful. Izzet charm being a nice counter/draw card is good, azorious charm all modes on it are very powerful, being able to bounce a creature/draw/have lifelink. And boros charm is very good, being a 2 mana 4 damage, and indestructible is good too. I also think you need to protect your archanist, otherwise someone can just doom blade it and then you get 2 for 1'd. That's another reason I recommend white, {Gods Willing} can protect him from getting killed. All in all I really like the idea, an hope everything works out for ya!
Let's not forget {silence} to lock someone down.

alright ill keep that in mind :)
Oh forgot to mention one thing that my buddy and I missed when we first came up with this!:P the reason we changed the instants in there from single colours to charms is because once the Arcanist has them, the cost becomes converted mana cost, not the colours :P so once the Arcanist is out it goes from a 5 colour deck to a blue (with a little green for my mimic) deck

But until you have him out they become dead cards in your hand. You want to be able to cast all your cards quickly and efficiently and create your synergy quickly. Yea casting a merciless eviction for a blue mana is awesome but you want to cast that by yourself if you have to.

true, I've seen it in my play tests too. The first 4 turns are a bit weird. I get an odd assortment of mana and charms to defend with until I get the Arcanist out. Sometimes I can live, sometimes not.
The guy who said to limit the deck's colours to 3 may be on to something :) but I'm wondering if maybe there's a way to still be able to use all these charms with 3 colours...... O.o.
Just a thought here but do you think this would work at all? So limit it to 3 colours and base my cards around that, the majority of those cards in the 3 colours but splash in useless charms (no mana) just for the Arcanist. Like 2-3 of each charm in my colour and 1 of each not in my colour so I won't come across them much and when I do I'll have an assortment of other cards to use until my Arcanist can grab it from my hand.
I really have to play around with this deck now but I love how its coming along :D like I said the deck can make it to an Arcanist and afterwards it reeeeally picks up. It's just the problem of staying alive until then :P
3 mana base guy right here! Lol I would make it America control. Gives you access to burn spells like lightning strike, boros charm etc. also gives you acess to board wipes, d-sphere, and sphinx's revelation. Huge cards lol. And as a second win con you can run ætherling as well as like a 2 of. It can be done. Just gotta watch the curve, land consistency, and stall power. I can make mine and what I would do with it to give you an idea if you want. But if this is a budget build I can offer some things as well. Just lemme know
Alright :) and I was thinking blue green black (I need blue and green for the mimic to make more Arcanists and eventually lead up to an army of instants)
And black because of read the bones and some of the charms in there I like :)
If you wanna give me deck ideas I have one request xD low cost instants. It works towards another combo I have in that deck...
{strionic resonator} {elite Arcanist}
When he enters, target him with the resonator to exile another spell with him or even a third if you have the mana
The reason I want low cost is 1: I can cast from multiple Arcanists and 2: this combo here!
The mana cost becomes the combined total of all the instants exiled with him so cheap instants makes casting a triple instant possible and then the {illusionist's bracers} give a copy of the ability... Another 3 instants and for additional 2 mana per resonator... Another 3!!! The reason I chose charms is to give me options lol 3 spells cast, 3 options per charm... 9 options to choose from xD and again and again each time it's copied
This exact set up may be unrealistic lol but best case scenario here from what I have coming in the mail and what's in the deck...
An Arcanist with 2 bracers, my 4 resonators and with 3 Boros charms exiled
For 14 mana... A possibility of 84 damage lol xD of course it's an unrealistic best case scenario but
So a more realistic one :P
An arcanist with:
Selesnya charm
Boros charm
Illusionist bracers
2 resonators out
For 8 mana I could have 16 damage and a second Arcanist becoming a 9/9 trampler aimed at an enemy!
Or 12 damage and an indestructible 9/9 trampler
12 damage and double striking 9/9 trample (18 trample)
8 damage and an indestructible, double striking 9/9 trample :P
Many many options :D it's why I chose charms ^_^
Oh! Another idea, I have no idea how well it works, I don't use these much but how are the lands that I pay 1 for any colour? Would that help in the beginning at all? Like {shimmering grotto}. It doesn't enter tapped and with a basic land can be any colour I need

If you are budgeted then these will "work". It will help your mana base but if all the lands do is make a colorless or pay 1 make any color isn't really beneficial. You pick your 3 color land base so we need to figure out how you can stall out until the late game. That's what it comes down to in my mind. I'll make what I would do and post it ASAP
I agree with adding silence that would be sick to lock down them down. I really like th
The idea of the deck and strionic resonator is insane
Thanks :) I really need help staying alive till turn 4 xD I'm gonna try different combos of colours now maybe in wall games but I need a way to stay alive till the Arcanist is out :P
The gu who made the two decks for ideas had some good combo ideas in the decks I might try :) but I need a few spells to maybe keep me alive turn 1-4 that might not need the Arcanist to cast
I don't know about this. Seems like all your eggs are in one basket. A couple of {Detention Sphere}'s will ruin this deck.
