If you haven't watched the Super Smash Brothers Documentary on YouTube, I urge you to give it a look. I love love love all types of gaming, whether it be tabletop or console (especially vintage console games); and this documentary truly takes the cake. You get to know all of the best players in the world, and it really lets you connect with each of them and allows you to see a community of Melee players progressing as the game itself grows.
Hope you all enjoy! And for those of you who may have/are currently watching it, who do you most connect with?
King of Kong is still my favorite gaming documentary.
And you got me to watch it now...I don't identify with any of these people though.

Lol, my plan has succeeded! It's so good :)
I wish they'd show more of the technicality of the game and it's evolution. I have no idea what most of this stuff is..
Can you provide a link?
Super smash bros is one of 2 of my favorite game series!!!:D (the other being bioshock!) it's one of my best games! I LOVE IT!!!^_^ I'm excited for the new one to come out

This documentary is based on the players and the SSB community, not precisely the game itself. If you'd like to learn about the game, then there are plenty of other sources you can tap into for that
All you need to do is search YouTube for "Super Smash Brothers Documentary", and Episode 1 is the first option on the list! :D
AND YES!!! I looooove Super Smash too!! Bioshock is amazing.
I'm best with the quicker characters :P
In the N64 one I'm good with Kirby and pikachu
In melee I'm best with link
In brawl I'm best with metaknight, sonic or lucario ^_^
And bioshock... I just love creepy stuff xD and bioshock is creepy and great storyline I think ^_^ the ending in the second one is kinda sad (well depending on how you played through it it's either sad or dark)

lol xD at my place there were certain items we didn't allow because it ended games too fast like the hammer :P we kept them off usually! Pokemon battles were always fun though! We would all be a separate Pokemon and have nothing but pokeballs on
I watched the whole thing. I'm glad everything worked out for everyone. To settle the real dispute: who is the greatest of all time?
As a long time competitive smasher, i'm surprised i haven't watched these yet.
To answer your question Dudecore (or at least in my opinion), the meta game in Melee has been in such constant progression ever since, that coupled with how some players get prominent and then fade out durin certain eras, greatest of all time is a really difficult question to answer.
If one were to assume that the most recent meta is the highest level of play, the answer is probably a player whose tag is Mango. He recently won Evo in Vegas, but more so, he's one of the most consistent winners of nationals and internationals in recent years.
People may argue a player named Mew2King, and people may argue a Swedish player named Armada. But if recent accomplishments are any indication, Mango is probably the answer you're looking for.
Are any of those names featured in those videos?
I feel like I can speak on this cuz I've played competitive Smash Bros for years and am acquainted with the Arizona scene who are pretty nationally regarded (not me though, im no scrub but i usually lose money at tournies)
(Shoutout to my az bretheren Wobbles who took 2nd at Evo - biggest tourney in history)
Mango, M2K, Korean DJ, PC Chris, Azen, Isai, and SephirothKen are featured most predominantly in the documentary. Armada vs. Mango is referenced and shown.
As much as I hate to admit it, I feel like Ken is probably the most predominant and paved the way for a lot of competitive smashers. But Mew2King, Mango, and Korean DJ are all amazing players from the newer age.

sounds awesome :D I hope the wifi on the wiiU one is better than the wii's xD so much lag
I was a semi-competitive Tekken Tag player when I was young. Local tournaments and money games. Never liked Super Smash. I did play a bunch of Melee when it came out, but a few months later Tekken 4 came out so I focused on that.
I never played competitively. And when I did do an advanced move when I played, it was always unintentional
Brawl did a great job at rupturing the scene because it's so much less competitive
But yeah if by best you mean who was most dominant at any given time in Melee's development of the meta game, Ken's a legitimate answer. But M2K, Armada, and Mango are totally comparable.
Their respective top levels of play never really existed at the very same time though (possibly excepting Armada and Mango) so that definition of best is fairly subjective
I'm still a KDJ fan all the way. WIFE, however, is hilarious and is a very close second.
I thought he meant by who's best as in who's his favorite character xD
I've always been a Ganon/Capt. Falco fan ^-^ Ganon's super smash attacks are the best but c Falcon is the best with his maneuverable jumps and definitely most memorable move.
FALCON PUNCH!!!

✊
FALCON KIIICK!

N64--pikachu, Kirby or link:)
Melee--link, Roy or Marth
Brawl--metaknight, sonic, lucario or Ike :D
Meta Knight on Brawl is my JAM!
But forever Captain Falcon for Melee.... =swoon=
Mewtwo in melee was awesome xD not because he was a great fighter. I was ok with him but he was so fun to annoy people with! Teleport all around them and have them get mad because they can't hit you xD
SAMUS SAMUS SAMUS SAMUS SAMUS
IMMA BEE SHOOTIN ALL DEM LAZARZ
Shiek was my best, olimar was very good in brawl as well

Mew2King was also a very notable and amazing player. His knowledge of spacing and breaking down moves alone was astounding.
KIRBY FTW!!! Up Up Up Down B ALL DAY!! Lol
Til you get grabbed out of air and down tilt down b by fox xD
Link was so op on Melee and I loved it. SSB will always have a place in my heart

Olimar's bomb. Reeeaally good at frustrating new players
I used to play with my friend who was giant jerk.
I played ice climbers though, so I can't call someone else a jerk, infinite grab combo is hard bro.
No love for my man Marth? Or Ness? I loved those two.
Marth is top tier in Melee as well as high up on the tier list in Brawl :) good choice
Yus! But I prefer Ike, either way fire emblem is great
If you know how to use Lucas
Lucas > everyone else
;)

You mean lucario?
Not quite. I'm talking about Brawl BTW
I'm a marth/fox player through and through. Don't like brawl though.
My best fighting game given that I'm not huge in the scene would be persona 4 arena
Just watched the whole series. Did not realize the meta for this game was so big. Great series to watch tho guys. If you haven't yet, you should.
