Title: Archive trap?
Post by: Phoenix X30 on November 14, 2013, 06:22:18 PM
 {Archive Trap}

It says if an opponent searched his/her library this turn you may pay 0 rather than pay its mana cost. Does this mean I can play it for free or does it reduce the 3 to a 0 and I pay 2U to cast it?

Thanks for any help

You can pay 0. It doesn't say 3 less, it says everything is zero.

It's free. Goes great with  {Ghost Quarter} target opponents land, they search and boom. Big free mill. Love running them in mill decks

Works great in modern mill especially if you have 2-3 in your opening hand.

My friend told me about his best hand ever when Alara/Zendikar was in standard. {Plains}, {Path to Exile}, 4x {Archive Trap}. Didn't care what the other card was. He played a plains, the other dude played a 1-drop, then he was like "I win?"
