Where do you guys come up with your usernames?
Mine was conjugated from various words in dead languages (Specifically Anglo-Saxon and Jatvingian... Latin is overused) that all mean "Lion". It was an attempt to make an original name that no one else uses. Although whenever I try to sign up somewhere, 50% of the time it's already taken... Wut.
Mine started way back in my childish MMO playing days where my name was "Silent Turtle." It has since been shortened to Silent and then had numbers tacked on due to "Another user has this name." Assholes. Silent is way better than Silent1236
I was in a noise band with some friends called Butt Pilot from the Planet Pluto back before Pluto was demoted and was still a planet. We all added "from Pluto" to our names and I just kept it. Had it since the MySpace days in '05.

Mine comes from a terrible anime I love called Detective Conan.
Detective Conan rules.
I got my name from a style of beatdown/hardcore music that was popular about bros and respect. My friends and I dubbed it "Dudecore". It was basically a joke about a soulless, meaningless, bullying type of scene.
My name.
M- first initial.
Lerner- last name.
12- age when I got the account.
Pretty simple. I use this format for everything.
I meant to put down
{Kozilek Butcher of Truth}
But it turned into Mozilla butcher, it's grown on me though
These are awesome! I wish I had a cooler name ... :(
It's the same as my PSN name so i just transfered it. made it up at work one day with my buddies being silly

The Long Island, NY tough guy scene was annoying. Most bands would run with a crew that would beat up everyone in the pit, including women. Lots of skin head groups rebranded themselves as beatdown bands also. After several violent confrontations, venue closes and arrests, the scene has died down.
I don't get the reference to Sonic Youth, never really listened to them.
I've used lolrus, imthelolrus, and other variations for years now. Inspired by I'm the Walrus and that meme. (And no, the Beatles aren't my favorite band).
I first started playing in Ravnica and I loved using {Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran} in a first/double strike deck I had (because he's boss).

I can see that. There's a documentary being Kickstarted about the Long Island hardcore scene. I've only been to a handful of tough guy shows (on account of being in the south and not wanting to travel to see the bands) so I only have experiences with the actual music. Earth Crisis is still one of my favorite bands.

Back to usernames and origins thereof people!
I stole deebiia from a friend of my uncles. The friend was playing Final Fantasy 11 and the 'main' character he used was named deebiia. I got the account after he quit and have had it ever since. Before that I used Dog, Commander Dog, and other assortments of dog related names.. Most of which were taken. The only thing I know of deebiia being taken as a username on is reddit... -.-
The Onion. Name and gravatar both belong to my favorite columnist in that hilarious fake news source.
Steerpike is a character from my favorite book, 'Titus Groan'
His steady transition from forgettable servant type to a sort of grand and ever-scheming puller of strings among all the characters makes him the most memorable and the way he manipulates everything to his own ends is the type of persona I find fun to put on when playing Magic.
I liked {cloudshift} when I found this place, and I like to be a deep person. But only when I'm making usernames. I dunno why... :)
My last name and the first 2 letters of my first name. My freshman year of college it was my email account. It's an unusual letter blend that no one ever uses for handles / usernames so I can usually claim it on any site.

I just remembered the source behind my avatar is from Long Island.
Dudecore bands had what we dubbed "brodowns" instead of breakdowns. For a scene built around "brotherhood" and "respect" had some of the most insanely disrespectful, backstabbing children life could produce. It forced most of the other local bands (myself included) to just play in Manhattan instead or people's backyards.
That documentary appears to cover early 90's hardcore on Long Island, I'm talking about mid-2000's era of beatdown. Beatdown is basically just hardcore with chugging breakdowns and occasionally blast beats. It's basically just wannabe Death Metal about fighting, drinking and family.
"Memento mori" is a Latin phrase meaning "remember your death" or "remember that you will die." I got it from Sophie's World, a book I read in high school, but as I've learned from people contacting me after I started using it, it shows up in plenty of other media, too.

They somehow managed to ruin 3 awesome concepts. I blame Stray from the Path.
I.D., a term I came up with a while back. Essentially it's another term for transcendence and immortality. A god-like state that is never ending. Like a demi-god, but with no lack of power.

Mine just popped into my head while trying to think of a minecraft username an I've used it for everything ever since
A long time ago when I wasn't good at video games I was always called noob. After a while I became better but still liked people thinking I was bad. I'm also kind of an .mule. so I tacked it on. Now instead of reading my name normally I would rush through it, put the A in front and it sounded like the Egyptian god. Thought it was cool and use it whenever I can now.
My brother came up with lord janova a long time ago and used it all the time and I've just always loved the name so a year and a half ago I started using it too.
World of Warcraft character from middle school, loved it ever since.
Guess I'm late to the party. Started in Everquest. I wanted an easy name to type. Stole it from a hip hop artist Ras Kass. Really enjoyed his way with words a real lyricist.
Vyse is a sky pirate from skies of Arcadia, an old rpg on the dream cast. I've used it since runescape classic, all the way to here *shrugs*
I ran the name wintut for a while derived from my 2 daughters nicknames of Winky and tuttie. It then got changed to wingnut while owning the gf at call of duty and it basically stuck. So I bounce between wingnut and wintut. Not the coolest story, but I am still the wingnut.

The nameless. It was the newest server when I finally started playing. (Spent a few hours at a friends house playing to make me pick up my own) also cost me quite a few bucks to build my first computer and to be the first person in the neighborhood with DSL. Oger shaman so I could get SoW at the lowest level. Then I could train the zones.
Because {melek} is awesome looking. Lol
Because if I could have any super power it would be those of sub-zero, and if I could choose any melee weapon to fight with, is go with the one use to cut grain... Just because it looks cool. Thus, IceScythe was born. I used to be CryoFire (symbolizing my love of Izzet type things) but I changed it since no one understands it or can pronounce it correctly.

Mine has a really interesting story. It's my name. Told ya ;)
Mine is just a pun off of GanonDorf from the LoZ series. I like it, so basically any GamenDork you see, it's me ( whenever I sign up for anything, it's never taken)!
Last name is actually Butcher, so everyone calls me Butch
Mine is originally my Xbox username but I came up with it while I was tring to make the user name. It was suppose to be dragon rider but it was always taken so I took out a few vowel and BAM dragn rdr came to life.
I just wanted to sound cool on the forums.

Mine was actually just Ganrou. I made it back in the day when I did MMO when I was 13. And it actually got made into a card in a game I used to play called Legend Of the Five Rings. Love that game and still do. Just can't find anyone to play it with. But Ganrou got made into a card and I adopted the family name Soshi and this became SoshiGanrou. I felt pretty amazing after that

I was bored of stealing usernames and decided to come up with one short and easy to say. Splicer popped into my head because I was thinking about genetics(a subject I love) earlier that day.
