Title: Bitter Ordeal question
Post by: Butch1977 on November 12, 2013, 05:43:21 PM
{Jace, Memory Adept} 0 ability with  {Consuming Aberration} on the field, drop  {Bitter Ordeal}. Would CA's ability trigger for each copy causing a 10 land grind?

I could very well be wrong, but I believe cards are only permanents while on the battlefield, so jaces +0 wouldn't trigger grave storm.

I think you may be right.

I also found this

702.68a (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=702.68a): Gravestorm is a triggered ability that functions on the stack. "Gravestorm" means "When you cast this spell, put a copy of it onto the stack for each permanent that was put into a graveyard from the battlefield this turn. If the spell has any targets, you may choose new targets for any of the copies."

Grave storm puts a copy on the stack, it doesn't cast it. You spell would trigger the aberition only once anyway.

That's the rule I was looking for. Thought the wording sounded a bit off from the cipher abilities. Thanks for the insight. Back to the drawing board. Lol
