So my opponent attacks with {myr battle sphere} and taps about 7 Myrs. He does the infinite {myr galvanizer} combo to untap everything, and tries to retap them for {myr battle sphere}. Can he repeat that and have the battle sphere do a billion damage to me?

That's a really good question.
The battle spheres ability is triggered and the decision made for it on resolution. And since you can't interrupt a spell/ability mid resolution you can not untap them and add more tapping to the ability

Two things. I'm assuming he's using another method of untapping the galvanizer, because it can't untap itself.
Second, and more important, the battlesphere's ability triggers when he is declared an attacker, so only goes on the stack once each turn. Because he can't untap his other Myrs in the middle of resolving this ability, he can only tap each one once.
