Surprisingly competitive or maybe my competition isn't surprising?

How do you handle  {Iona, Shield of Emeria} ? This is just a question I ask myself when running mono anything.

That's a killer.  {Spine of Ish Sah} works though

Unless mono-blue, then "lolcounter."

 {Kokusho, the Evening Star} is unfortunately illegal in EDH. If this is just straight casual with mates, have at it! Otherwise is too powerful.

PS good call on the {Spine of Ish Sah}, too!  {Nevermore} and the others like it are also good defence against her too.

I was just about to post that link. =P

My recommendation for a mono black Iona solution :  {Praetor's Grasp}.   If you end up playing against someone with Iona, then exile it and move on, if not then it can still be extremely useful, take a card you can actually use, whether it's another mono black card or an artifact.

 {Praetor's Grasp} is a good add. Problem is knowing if and who has the card I need to worry about in their deck.
