Title: Attacking planeswalkers
Post by: Joedillard on March 17, 2012, 11:29:11 PM
If a planeswalker enters the battlefield with 3 counters on it and can I attack it on my turn with two or more creatures?

Yep.

Absolutely!  Any time you attack, you decide which creatures will attack either the player or one of their planeswalkers. You can split the attack any way you want.

Technically, you start by Targetting the player. Then, as the spell is resolving you can redirect it to the Planeswalker instead.
This means that your opponent won't know if that {Shock} is meant for them or their PW until its too late. 😉

You first declare it towards the PWs controller, since it technically isn't a legal target. Then, if no actions are taken, you can redirect the damage to a Planeswalker.

However, if you are using something that can 'split' the damage like an {Inferno Titan} the damage can't go partially to the player and partially to the pw so be careful.

Is this the same for attacking creatures?

No. With attacking creatures you declare who each creature is attacking: player or Planeswalker. And also which Planeswalker.
