I'm still in high school, but I have a question for you college goers. Did you ever think of going out of country for college? Because I'm considering it, any help and suggestion and tips

I spent the entire spring semester of this year for class in Italy and it was the single most gratifying period of my life.

How long were you considering being away? Because I have little to say about being gone for years on end, other than how I started to feel the pangs of homesickness after about a month and a half.

I was thinking till I got my degree
Spending all that time would no doubt be just as, and very probably more, life changing than what I did.

How stable are you away from home?
An entire degree is a long time. Long enough for you to probably wind up being capable of establishing the rest of your life wherever you go. So you need to be willing to suspend everything your place of residence has given to you.

How wealthy is whoever is paying for it?
I ask simply because when there are breaks in study, you may find yourself wanting to travel even more (especially if you're in Europe) or visiting home every now and again. Plane tickets, especially trans-oceanic ones, are not cheap.

And of course, where are you going??
Engaging non-English speaking cultures as opposed to ones where the language barrier is not a problem for you makes a big difference. Learning another language out of necessity is difficult but fun and extremely satisfying. Either way is not a deal breaker, but I imagine that will have a lot of bearing on your willingness to go.

And at the moment, I know studying abroad seems like a matter of money and signing up for classes and trudging through the bureaucracy of getting youself a visa, but dedicating a chunk of your life to a new world is so much more than that.
Your senses will truly feast on the grandure of places beyond your home in so many ways. The people you meet can turn from strangers to being integral parts of your experience there as some of the best friends you will ever have. The romance is just waiting to be realized (I met my girlfriend, another student, in Italy) and there are fewer more inspiring venues for love than a new and invigorating country and culture. There are difficulties and pain sometimes bearing down just as inevitably as there are at home, and each hurdle molds a more capable person.

Studying abroad is a concentration of the bliss and the struggle of an entire lifetime into just a fraction of your life.

Do it :)

In my younger days, I would have loved to study in Wales... However, I joined the Navy, got stationed with the Marines, and spent a total of 14 months studying local Iraqi customs and traditions... Does that count as studying abroad?

I hear it's a little depressing. Kinda lonely. My ex did that. She was from Beijing and always missed her family while she was here

Thought about it but I started college married (don't recommend that) and so I kinda had to ignore study abroad. However I have had a few friends do it and they said they enjoyed it profusely.
I was married in college. Sure you won't do some things but that was fine by me. Wouldn't change how I did it.

Graduated from CSU Northridge with a BA in Psychology and currently working on my MS in Marriage Family Therapy there.
Great school with a well known program around here, I'm basically at the halfway point (it's a 2.5 year program).

I'm often tired, but find the work incredibly rewarding. :)

I highly recommend junior college / community college (whichever it's called) I wish I had gone to a JC right out of high school instead I did one year at a state school and one year at a junior college and saved a ton of money.

Gen Eds are pretty much the same boring courses anywhere, so why not save some money? Plus I think if you do well in those 2 years it really helps during the transfer your junior year :)

I still have to wait 2 years to complain about college...class of 2015. Although I am taking a lot of college courses and getting credits. I am taking English 1510, Calculus, AP Microeconomics and AP Biology so I will have a lot of credits just in my Junior year in High School.
