Title: 27hrs of Bus
Post by: Kaleo42 on October 23, 2013, 09:46:14 AM
I now begin my long convaluted bus route from Boise Idaho to Crovax California. It is 745am and I am projected to areive at 1045am tomorrow. I am stopping in Portland long enough to have lunch with my mom before making to visit my dad for 3 weeks.

Important notes for all of you.
No new Rogue T3ch videos unless Danny has times.
Limited internet access and cell service will limit my time on here.
I will try to play an FNM in Santa Cruz area.
I have with me a majority of the team's rares in hopes of securing trades in a new community.
I will be occupying most my spare time with pokemon X, exercising, and playing music with my dad.

Have fun up north man! :) next time you're in California, head down south, the MTG community is pretty strong here and I would love to see your trades :P

Hey bud! I live in the Santa Cruz area so I can recommend some shops for you if you're not familiar with it. I'm not sure if I will be able to make it to FNM this weekend but I will let you know.

In downtown Santa Cruz, Mythic Games is the place to go for FNM standard. Higher level of competition and lots of players. They also do a rare draft Friday night or pack draft sat at 6 (last time I went they had 38 players for draft)
If you have a vehicle, ChannelFireball is in Santa Clara (about 40 mins from Santa Cruz). They have standard and draft every night of the week that is on the level of most competitive FNM. Sat and sun they do tournaments of varying formats (including legacy once a month) or sealed. Usually they have some form of competitive event every sat and sun as well as multiple drafts.
Also in scotts valley there is a small LGS called Epic Games that is much more casual that I like to go to for draft FNM. They do standard Thursday too, but scotts valley is about 15 mins from Santa Cruz.

That's the summary. If you have specific questions let me know. Post which ones you think you'll make it out to and I'll see if I can come down!!

With both parents on the west coast, how did you end up in Idaho if you don't mind me asking? I am not being condescending; I enjoy learning people's origin stories, so to speak.

The short version:
Born in Oregon, moved to Hawaii, moved back to Oregon, parents split (I was 5), mom and I moved to Honolulu area in Hawaii, I went to live with dad in Fort Collins Colorado, went back to Maui Hawaii with mom, back to Colorado with dad this time in a small mountain town, back to Maui, back to Colorado in a smaller town named Ward then back to Maui.

That was my first 7 years of my life. Dad's a reggae musician and mom is an artsy type that is willing to put her dreams on hold to give me the best life she can. Both great parents but bad together.

Hawaii got to expensive as I grew older so we moved to Boise Idaho to live with my grandma till we got stabalized and found it was a great place to root down. My mom when to jr high and high school in Boise and it was still a good place to be. I proceeded to visit my dad for summers instead of every 6 months. Most of these visits where in Eugene Oregon or somewhere in Hawaii. I got my lifeguard certificiation as soon a I was old enough and made a career in the auquatics industry at the YMCA. It doesnt pay enough though so I am working with some north west based business men and women on a business model that is projected to grow into my livelyhood in the next few years. The particulars are propiatory and I will not/ am not qulified to explain it.

Dad has settled in california for now. Mom has a high end job in Portland now. Im 21 (for about 3 more weeks). Happily in love with Nicki and am looking at being married and starting a family in the next few years. I am working on getting my L2 judge cert before 2015 and want to be on the Pro Tour for magic by then as well.

That about sums up all the superficial parts of my life. I have shared this with the Mods but more than a few of you have asked about me and I hope this answers most or all of your questions.

If you can, you should drop by Channel Fireball @ San Jose. It can get fairly competitive

I feel so alone, being only 2ish hours away with no decent way to get there... I'm on the lower side of the GG bridge.

Cool man. I'm in San Fran all the time. Always for though work, so I never get to explore the card shops. It's a shame cause the closest one to me is about 1 1/2 away.

The trip was planned late so plane tickets were outrageous.

Ah. That's always a problem. Good luck with your plans. If you wanna hit the Pro Tour - you're close to Channel Fireball and you should be on MTGO (if you aren't already).

It is free. I wrote a little guide for the new beta client (here (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?topic=22936.0)). I personally think MTGO is lots of fun, and very addicting. Being able to get games of whatever, whenever, wherever. It can rekindle your love for Magic the Gathering.

Also, singles are so much cheaper. As of this moment MTGOTraders have {Deathrite Shaman} listed for $4.15. If you do what I did - CapeFearGames.com takes paper product for MTGOTraders.com credit. The exchange rate for paper -> online is sometimes 3 to 1. You can get a {Boros Reckoner}, a Shockland and another good card for 1 paper {Boros Reckoner}.

It's not that bad. It does all of the annoying stuff (shuffle, rules enforcement, token generation, damage calculation). If you ever get around to joining online find me. User Name: Dudecore. Join iMtG Clan. I've got thousands of cards for free and relentless diatribes.

All iMtG members are welcome to join the clan!

Off the bus.
Lvl. 52 Aurorus
Lvl. 54 Greninja
Lvl. 54 Charizard
Lvl. 55 Lucario
Lvl. 58 Blaziken
Lvl. 58 Florges

Not my greatest team every by any means, but each individual pokemon is very powerful and have decent type cocerage as a group. I have 6 badges and my pokemon clearly are a higher level then the game intended for me to have at this point.

Sounds like Pokemon. So easy to lose track of time while grinding.

I wish it was a preset egg instead of an already hatched torchic, but of course an egg cant hold the item. I would want an egg becuase the exp boost ofsets your team especially on a first play through. Also i like to use nicknames.

I dislike nicknames for most Pokemon, but some just need it

It always made it more personal when I was younger now I do it as a creative challenge. It's difficult to nickname as many pokemon as I have and still cone up with new serious names. The most joking nickiname I have on my team is Tinkerbell for my first ever farie type.

My current team has Tinkerbell, Glacier, Aizen, Ryuchi (dragon blood), Athena, and "Blaziken" who's name I cant change.
