{thrumming stone}, {Hivestone}, {gemhide sliver}, and a deck of {relentless rats}. Or half deck, toss in a {followed footsteps} and a {parallel lives} or two and you have an ever growing horde of powerful rats which can be used as mana birds .

{relentless rats} build on themselves... If you go sliver wise, it is {sliver legion}, which is actually quite playable in this combo

Usable, yes... Though the discard issue can be problematic. There is also {pestilence rats} and {plague rats} usable as well
{pestilence rats} are perfect if you use {Rite of Consumption} in the mix... Give your opponant a big shock and you a big life boost
{ogre slumlord} might be fun too
