Does the ability have to be activated for strionic resonator to copy it
Yes. The {Strionic Resonator} copies a TRIGGERED (not activated) ability that is on the stack. It can't be on the stack to copy if you don't trigger it first ;)
On a different note, my partner bought her first booster the other day because she wants to get into Magic now. I've been looking for a {Strionic Resonator} for AAAAGES!!!
