Ok so say you have 10 devotion and tap {Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx} for 10 mana. Can you then play another {Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx} from your hand that comes in untapped and destroys the other one because they're legendary. The. Tap it using 2 of the 10 generated mana to get another 10?
Yes you can
Yes you can.
Yes you can
Yes, you can.
Did this in a wall game a week back. Was totally goner without using this technique.
It works. Yeah, I monstrous {polukranos, world eater} for x =20 and swing
Game day is mine!! Thanks everyone.
You'd only gain 8 mana though. Since it costs 2 to activate

It was changed so that if you control two legendary permanents with the same name you have to sacrifice one of them and if you and an opponent each control the same legendary they both stay on the field. The change came into effect the day M14 released.
Quite a recent change, not so bad that I have missed it until now. But very good to know

You're welcome.
I think the change is dumb in my opinion, I think it was just a way to make it so new players could use their gods without being nuked by an opponent with the same god.
In case of A god this makes perfect sense (i.e. non at all)
Player in the scg this weekend made almost 100 mana using shrine this weekend...

Actually, from what I have read it has more to do with preventing players from using shapeshifters and clone spells as removal, which was not the intended purpose of those cards.
you can yes
