Post by: Necromancerman on October 14, 2013, 03:42:23 PM
I just got sanguine blood I read its effect and I realized if you also have exquisite blood out and deal one damage they die and you get all their life.

But this causes a never ending effect so the game can't end correct?
Unless you have mana to cast a destroy enchantment

It ends when your opponents run out of life

Rule 104.4 I believe
104.4b (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=104.4b): If a game that's not using the limited range of influence option (including a two-player game) somehow enters a "loop" of mandatory actions, repeating a sequence of events with no way to stop, the game is a draw. Loops that contain an optional action don't result in a draw.

Not applicable. Once a player hits 0 life, the game ends at the next state check. Triggers don't matter and can't loop anymore. That rule only applies to loops like 3 {oblivion ring}s with no other targets, where the game state never advances.

Oh ok. I thought it would just keep running this into negatives and you'd have to declare the game a draw. Thanks Gorzo!

Only if that player has a {Platinum Angel}, then it would indeed end in a draw. ;)

I think there's also the {Elderscale Wurm} to force a loop?

Sadly Elderscale wouldn't save you. {Sanguine bond} causes loss of life, and {Elderscale Wurm} prevents damage. Damage causes loss of life, but loss of life is not damage. Loss of life cannot be prevented.

What about {CoP: Black}?

{Circle of Protection: Black}

Damage vs life loss, same issue.
