Can you cancel a {Heliod, God of the Sun} with an {Essense Scatter}? Is it dependent on devotion or does his static ability not matter on the stack?
He's a legendary creature in all zones other than the battlefield. You can essence scatter him even if the devotion count isn't high enough for him to materialize.
Googling to see if I can find the ruling

No ruling yet. It was just answered in the Theros FAQ post they did awhile back.

Gosh that's really annoying. I would bet everything in my wallet that he's still an enchantment & creature spell on the stack, regardless of his static ability.

That's exatly true. I was saying you were right but the only proof youll find is in that FAQ post by wizards.
I can't tell if "reeboks" is slang for one of the gods or if you're a victim of autocorrect.
Looks like an Erebos autocorrect
The god of the dead and athletic footwear
Great now every time I see {Lash of the Whip}
It's going to be a shoestring in my mind..

Previous 4 posts = awesome
Erebos = reeboks
Nylea = nike
Thassa = Tommy Hilfiger
Heliod = heeleys
Porphoros = pumas
All gods are now shoe brands!
I'd make Thassa "TOMS" or whatever. Tommy just screams other clothes to me
Now ALL check YouTube for the good old iRak again!
And the only one that autocorrected to an actual god was Nike...
