Title: Devotion + Instant Speed Trait Doctoring
Post by: MementoMori on October 14, 2013, 11:18:57 AM
Let's say I drop an {Abhorrent Overlord}. When it resolves and its ETB trigger goes on the stack, my opponent responds with {Quicken}, then {Trait Doctoring} to change "black" on the Overlord to "green."

When the trigger resolves, does it count my devotion to black or green?

That's exactly what happens. The only parts of an abilty that matter before resolution are; modes, targets, triggers, conditions, and costs. Everything else isnt accounted for till resolution.

Do you want mcdonalds or burger king? Yes.
Clarify please

Sorry misread his post. It will count by green since the only part of the ability checked before resolution is the trigger of entering the battlefield.

RESOLVED

OK, thanks. I knew it would count only during resolution, but I wasn't sure when it decided what it was counting.
