Title: Sacrifice vs indestructible
Post by: Destore117 on October 08, 2013, 11:09:07 PM
So I got into an argument over whether using {Tribute to Hunger} on my opponent when they had only one card and it was a card with indestructible like let's say {Stuffy Doll} they were saying Sacrifice effects wouldn't work on it.

Indestructible doesn't stop someone from sacrificing a creature, either does protection.

702.12b (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=702.12b): A permanent with indestructible can't be destroyed. Such permanents aren't destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the state-based action that checks for lethal damage (see rule 704.5g).

Sacing, exile and -X/-X are the things that work on Indestructible.

This belongs in the rules section: but to answer the question...sac effects kill indestructible creatures...indestructible only stops destroy effects or creature damage(unless creature has wither or infect)

Here's a fun one: let's say I have a creature-d up Erebos that my opponent casts the {Tribute to Hunger} and they make me sac the Erebos. Due to his ability, would they gain the life or no?

He's being sacced then you gain life so his effect wouldn't be active any more correct?

He gets sacrificed first. So his effect of no life gain drops away as he travels off to Graveyard town. Then you get +7 life if you're the caster of Tribute to Hunger.

Sorry I'm not good with technical terms so I can't explain it in terms of abilities and actions and when they're checked and what not
