The joke is old, is all. Same reason nobody "Rick Rolls" anymore.
Rick roll is actually IMO a great song xD

Does anyone know where the joke came from or did it just materialize? (Like a {Storm Crow}? :p )
Back in the day, when storm crow first appeared, he was far above the curve, and a truly powerful 2-drop for blue. He stopped goblins dead in the tracks (thanks to 2 toughness) and a flying creature for 2 mana was pretty damn amazing. All at a common printing. So, add in some exaggerations, and a meta full of blue, and storm crow became a running gag.
At my lgs we did a pauper modern night and in addition to the normal ban list we had {Storm Crow}, as it totally OP!!!!! And no one could stop telling jokes about it the first round would never have ended

It was also good fodder for {Force of Will} as it could be chunked and not be missed in a pinch.
