You should consider trying out {Omenspeaker}. I personally like it as a low drop chump blocker in my control list. It also helps make hands that wouldn't otherwise be keep able. I say so because you're playing Ashiok, which can't protect itself (until after a few activations), and sometimes you just don't have the kill spells to deal with opposing creatures.

I feel you.  I am going to try both Omenspeaker and Read the Bones and see which one works out best.

The argument against {omenspeaker} that came up when I was talking to the former state champ (a diehard blue mage) was that it has no impact mid and late game. They will probably already have something(s) way bigger and an extra kill spell or draw card wouldve done more.

I get that argument a lot. But the impact that scry 2 has on the game is just that powerful. Even if they have a bigger dude, you can just chump it with the knowledge that you just set yourself up for some stellar draws.

As long as you find your supreme verdict by turn 4, I don't care. I think bones MIGHT be better because it lets you dig 2cards deeper than Omenspeaker.

Bones also puts cards in your hand.
