Title: Interesting MtG facts
Post by: Mattao19 on September 30, 2013, 01:44:35 PM
This thread is for people to post lesser known facts about anything related to MtG.

Ill start, I just learned today that Richard Garfield (creator of the game) proposed to his wife with a magic card called proposal!!

How sick is that?

{Steamflogger Boss} was meant to be an ongoing joke with no intention of ever having a use. One of the designers of Future Sight admitted in an interview that it was a joke and blew the cover.

It's not proven that every human dies bc currently there are billions of people who haven't died yet so any one of those 8 billion not dead could potentially be immortal.

So far I can't BUT you can't prove that everyone dies when there are 8 billion people still alive and (not dying). There are examples of life that can live forever so why can't we?

Volcanic island is the rarest dual land. Plateau's revised art is different from alpha/beta/unlimited due to the original art proof getting lost.

On the back of all magic cards where it says deck master. There's a faint blue line. It's a line made on the design by accident with a pen before printing and it's been there since.

Yup, they can't change the card backs to fix it. In addition, mtg has had no affiliation with "Deckmaster" for many years. But like that blue streak, it remains on the card back because changing it would disrupt playability of unseelved/transparent sleeved cards in eternal formats forever. Different backs = marked cards!

The PHYrexian symbol is the greek letter Phi. (when people ask him about it, Mark Rosewater only responds with "There are no coincidences : )"

I am now wondering if this was a hint that a greek set was coming up, they already knew because it was in the Five Year Plans.

Theros (for comparison, because I think it looks similar)

That depresses me though, because I was just thinking of how cool that could be!  I actually thought of it right before I checked your comment, thanks for ruining my dreams.

Oh well, now I shall try to find any cards that could be worth anything in Homelands...  {Digereedo} doesn't count.
