First new deck taken to an fnm. 3-2 some mana inconsistancies were costly against more consistantly fast decks.

As bad as it might be, {gatekeeper vine} until you have Scry lands?

No time for tapped lands. the salvages and deathrite smooth the colors more than enough. The mana issues were based on having 3 nonland spells in 20 cards one game and then hitting all one color in the other game. The issues can be lessened only slightly as they were due to normal variance.

This may sound crazy, but I think Immortal Servitude wouldn't be bad here. Loads of 1s n 2s

I take it youre kinda new or sarcastic. Either way I can forgive that short coming on understaning my experience level in this matter.

Normal deck variance occures not matter what deck your playing, this deck is very paticular on it's colors which will always hold it back from being a consistant top competitor. I usually play control for this reason. In a deck designed play into late game perfect colors is not super important and higher amounts of land make for lower impact from normal deck variance.

Wow...read both of yours way too fast. I had like 20sec to read and post then. Yea that was to the other guy and didn't mean it as high and mighty as it came out.

I did seriously consider {immortal servitude} but honestly I shouldn't be left with any creatures in my yard between varolz and deathrite.

Let's be honest. Your deck has plenty of land for its curve, esp with grisly salvage and commune. It's obviously your shuffling or hand keeping.

Skilled players know when they can keep a hand or not. Way I see it, if you don't have a green and black source in your hand, you don't keep it.

Just gonna let you know that Kaleo is probs the most experienced and knowledgeable player on these forums.  It is definitely nothing to do with his shuffling or hand keeping.

He has 4 grisly salvage and 4 commune with the gods. He should NOT have mana problems. You'd have to be extremely unlucky to move through the top 6 cards of your deck and not find land you can settle with.

Unlucky is right. Also commune does not pull land. One of the two games with bad mana I used commune and got 3 black sources and two creatures with a turn two commune when I had green and white mana in play. Wouldnt have been terrible if all but my two voices were black creatures. Ended up playing a deathrite and getting one black mana to work with per turn but it was not enough.

{sylvan caryatid}? Utopia mana producer that won't be shot down. Might slow down the deck, but you could always chump or sac her to vharolz if needed. Mana fixing + ramp might be worth it. You could commune or salvage into her as well

Yes you are. Hydra is not 3 or less mana, does not scavenge well, and is not {thragtusk}. It has no place here. 5 mana to monstrous the fleece is a far better top end.

5 mana to monstrous the fleece is a far better top end.

Not to mention salvaging fleece if push comes to shove (3 counters for 2mana).
