{Elspeth, sun's champion}
That and
Kinda want to know your feels on the new mono land {nythos, shrine of nyx}
So I want to run a two color deck, u/b with little to no u devotion. Like all mono white devo, With that^ land with u interrupt protection.
I realise that being legendary I'll probrably push two and if I happen on the second in a game I can use the first and then play/new sac/old.
She's honestly crazy. Lemme put it in perspective.
{Garruk Caller of Beasts} is $20 and a 6 drop, same as Elspeth. Here's the thing.
{Elspeth Sun's Champion} gives you THREE blockers to protect her. 3!
She board wipes massive threats.
Then all your tokens are 3/3 and flying. So amazing
I'm cool, I'm cool. In fact I really like her. I just don't know how to play things with cmc >= 4 lol. I joke sorta. I'm so weird about u/w cmc.
And I don't know if I like artifact ramp from rtr/dm.
At most I'd run her at one I think. Same with {evangel of Heliod} really but they really shafted the ammount of white devotion cards.
Personally I think shrine to Nyx is a great card. Even having devotion of 3 to produce 3 mana with one land has the potential to be awesome.
Haven't used her yet, but looks sick.

Ehh, you have to tap 2 colorless and the shrine to get the 3 mana, so you're technically paying 3 mana for 3 mana.. Unless your devotion is 4 or higher, or you NEED white (or whatever your devotion is) opposed to the 1-3 colorless, it wouldn't be worth it! I personally like the Shrine though :3
I pulled an Elspeth and pre-release and she won me LOTS of rounds during two-headed.
The only two matches we lost out of 6 were where our opponents milled her out of my library ); It was so sad!

That's because most planeswalkers are grossly OP in limited. We got destroyed by {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} in two headed, and he is not all that great in general, lol.
Anyway, I can't speak much for Elspeth in standard, as I do not play standard constructed, but I do know that they are planning to slow the game down in that format, so there may still be hope for her there. I'm not seeing much (if any) playability in her outside of standard and EDH. Overall, she has some nice abilities, I like her, I'm just not sure when the chance to play her in a deck would come up for me.

Ashiok was the reason she was milled D: but I love Ashiok as well (he feeds my Dimir cravings) and thankfully I pulled one! The only walker I didn't get was Xengos :\
I'm praying they slow the game down, so that you really only start to have a clear picture of who's winning around Turn 10. I would be okay with this.

I would also be happy with this! It's no fun when your opponent is so fast that you lose by turn 3 or 4 :(

I don't see how they are slowing down standard with the {xenagos, the reveler} {domri rade} deck out. That deck is going to be blazing fast.
Build a Mono Blue and counter all those Walkers! Mwahahahahahaha! All the answers are held in Blue.... ;)

Lucky! During my prerelease I got screwed on what I pulled in my packs. Pretty much all my cards were off-color including 4 rares not to mention no mythics. <_< I was sad lol. Who I playe against first, got their God out both rounds and bent me over
-hugs- we all get bent over in Magic sometimes :(
I want a copy of this Elspeth in every single EDH deck with white in it that I ever build or have built. If that tells you anything.

Lol *hugz* the people I played against were all like "I feel so bad." You don't need to feel sorry for me, it's not like I'm some new player they just stomped lol I just got unlucky.
I can't wait to toy with {daxos, of meletis}
Kinda want the game to slow down to, but if it gets to slow nothing is more frustrating than a draw in time and next turn you would have won. Happened twice at the release...
I didn't pull anything really
When it was spoiled, I wasn't too excited about it, because I thought of {Elspeth, Sun's Champion} in terms of old standard. Here's the truth, though:
She is a quality walker. For starters, she makes three blockers with her +1 ability. That's pretty good, because not a lot of creatures have trample now. And the funny thing? You should be able to buy at least 2 turns of protecting her by +1ing, because your opponent might have an x/3 creature that he or she wants to keep, so you can spend the first attack phase blocking just 1 or 2 guys.
Now for her -3. It's extremely relevant, especially now that that undying is gone, along with thragtusk. One of the most relevant creatures in future standard, {Desecration Demon}, folds to elspeth. I think her main strength is making 3 bodies at a time, though.
I would only use her emblem if a) I wanted to swing in for an alpha strike, or b) I knew she was being removed the next turn, and boardwiping wouldn't benefit me more.
I can see her being used well in UW control. I mean, the fact that I used to have no problem hardcasting a {Terminus} says something about her -3. Especially without unding or anything to worry about! Sure there's reanimation. But that isn't the point. Doom Blade isn't bad because your opponent could just reanimate the creature you just killed, is it? Elspeth is a solid 6 drop.
Man this is great help guys thanks a lot. I've been putting a lot of thought into my standard by release. I'll be sure to post a deck when I finish it.
Meh. She's a little expensive and her abilities really aren't that great (they're okay, not great for her mana cost). Don't compare {Garruk, Caller of Beasts} to {Elspeth, Sun's Champion}, Garruk is basically a tutor and can cost free creatures were as Elspeth can protect herself with chump blockers and destroy a couple of beefy boys. Garruk > Elspeth. On the other hand, Elspeth is nice with {Purphoros, God of the Forge} which is her saving grace.

In terms of price, I'd buy Purphoros over Elspeth any day.
