So recently I was told that tapped creatures take no damage. Does that mean that you could attack with 1,000,000 100/100 creatures and I could just assign a {Defender of the Gateless} to block, tap the Defender and nothing happens? Where does the damage go? It seems too unfair.
this is a lie tapped creatures take damage
Thank you! I thought that person was lying, it didn't make any sense to me either.
Also I found a page that says that tapped blockers do deal damage:
"Tapped Blockers
Tapped blockers now deal combat damage just like untapped blockers do; you can no longer tap a blocking creature to prevent its combat damage."

That's good to know.
Yeah, I know. They should have just simplified the whole thing and said blocking causes a creature to tap.
To Noblellama-Thanks but we figured it out, the guy was just lying to me and few other people agreed with him because they didn't realize the change in rules.
To Tasby-I realize that blocking not tapping has other benefits but if they were looking to simplify the game the best place would be to start right there and say "blocking causes you to tap".
Blocking doesn't cause you to tap. Regenerating causes you to tap.
I realize that blocking doesn't cause tapping. I am saying that it should if they wanted to simplify the game.
I don't think it would simplify it at all...lol... But I play a lot of multiplayer and if that were the case, games would get pretty dumb, quickly😉
Wait...tapped creatures may block?
No they can't unless u untapped them with an ability and yes they still take damage
I asked MaRo on Blogatog, as of 6th Edition tapped creatures both give and receive damage while blocking.

6th changed so many things...
I miss mana burn sometimes...
Its funny you say that because the other day my dad (who played from Alpha to Dissension) still didn't realize that mana burn was gone so he thought that some of the mana ramp cards were horrible.
I started in October last year lol tell me what mana burn is please :)

If there is unused mana in your mana pool, it deals damage to you
That sounds terrible. Whyyyyy
Well wait. Wouldn't mana burn be avoided if you just don't tap too many of your lands (which I think would be Noobish anyways since you spend your mana when you tap for it usually) why would you tap out when you can't use the mana? Right?
^^^ What he said. He also gave people a reason not to run Tron and crazy mana ramp like {Black Lotus}.
Ah BL one of the most expensive cards beside damnation

One of the?...
And mana burn is one of the ways to not concede to your opponent but yet able to irritate your winning opponent. :D
I miss mana burn :( it added another level of strategy to the game...
I played against a guy who hadn't played in years. I asked what he was playing. He said red burn. THE ENTIRE DECK was built on the mana burn mechanic. When I told him mana burn didn't exist anymore, he scooped cause he said there was no way for him to win realistically. It made us both kind of sad...
