Dumb question but idk what colour to choose (they all seem good) I always play Green so that obviously appeals to me, but thenagain I always play Green and I like new adventures!
So post here what colour you guys will play and why.
Thanks
Blue & Red seem to be the way to go right now, but any choice is going to be fun :) I'm pre-reg'd for Blue on Saturday and Black on Sunday.....just because I love Dimir color combos.
That's true plus pulling a {Thoughtseize} would be great lol
I was chatting with some friends last night about this.
White's promo is amazing, and white has potential to be the overlooked golden egg in the set.
Green has something no other color seems to have that is going to be essential. Enchantment removal.
Red looks hit or miss. If you get the right cards, it hits, and hits HARD. If you don't get the right cards, it will fall flat FAST. But that's red for you.
No one seemed quite sure what to think about blue. "It looks good" seemed to be the consensus.
Black looks really solid, but maybe slightly slow. Removal is there, but expensive (unless you get the 3-mana rare), and you have plenty of bombs to choose from.
I think red looks amazing!
I agree Gorzo. While I think Heliod is the worst God printed, the regular white cards seem to trump most other regular cards, especially with RTR block. I actually think Thassa is the best. But there's just not enough blue support :/
Black or white. Just looking at the set both of these colors maintain a decent devotion, have actual game ending promos, and both have access to removal and other tricks. Remember to look mostly at the commons when making this decision since you will see a lot more commons than all other rarities combined.
I'm going white. Ill post pulls later
I chose red and played U/G. I ended up going 3-0-1. We were both tired and decided to draw the last game. We both walked away with winning ) packs.
so i went white, played red white green
ended up undefeated sorta
1/1 draw
2-0
didnt finish first game draw... [one turn man i just needed one turn]
2-0
will post my pulls in trade
I chose red and went r/w 4-1 ended up getting a foil Heliod and Elspeth in one of the prize packs and Purphoros in another. All in all a good time.

Best card was {psychic intrusion} for me. Garbage. Went blue black. It took 9th out of 17. Bonus packs went to 8th. I should have won 1 game instead of tying and I should have tied 1 game instead of losing. Whatever, my pity pack had ashiok in it. Score! WHY couldn't that have been in packs I could put in my deck??? :(. I also made a sarcastic remark before we started about how horrible he was, so much so I wouldn't run him if I pulled him. That's karma.
Leave Ashiok alone, he is great in casual fun decks and he destroys scrying.
So how does theros play?
Went {R}{W} aggro. Went 2-0 against mono {W}, 2-1 against {R}{U}, 2-1 against {R}{G} (piloted by the guy who owns the store), and 1-2 against {W}{G} due to TERRIBLE mana screw. I'm talking first hand all mana, next 2 no mana, once I've mulled to 4 all mana again. Next game same thing, I just took the 6 lander (I had one {titan's strength}).
Hi right of now I use a theros red green but I also have a blue,white, black i use the first for most events... I use it cause its quite Argro due to most of the cards I got out of booster.
If u make blue deck and get the sphinx... Use it cause i lost 3 matches because of that card!

Went green, ran green/red after bailing on green/white last second
2-0
2-0
2-0
0-2 (didn't draw any creatures and he had a great deck)
Finished 4th of 43
Participation pack had an {elspeth suns champion}
Lucky :(
Pulled an {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} (aka destroyer of deck then steal your prized cards) and (s)he is a bomb in limited I T1 {Asphodel Wanderer} T2 {Returned Phalanx} (for protection then a T3 Ashiok and protect her with counterspells and {Voyage's End}s so far I'm 2-1 bc GR aggro killed me before I could do anything :(
Got 10th out of 72; won 2 packs, and pulled 4 gods out of my total of 8 packs
The worst pre-release ever... 4 rares out of 6 boosters were multicolored and guess what..:D each different combination of colors.. I felt like opening rtr block boosters... Only no way to get a damn guildgate...:D no one, two or three cmc playable creatures...
But at least I enjoyed the day and was able to won 2 and draw one out of 7 rounds...
So I played three prereleases:
3-0-1 B/W split for 1st/16
2-2 B/W 7th/16
3-1 B/U 1st/16
I won 6 packs, but I won't get it until the set comes out Friday.
This weekend I won $143 store credit :>
Went {R}{W} Heroic for 2nd out of 31. Won 12 packs (first was 30 and I lost 2-1, so pissed). Then drafted
Rares:
{Temple of Silence}
{Thoughtseize}
{Fleecemane Lion} 2x
FOIL {Hammer of Purphoros}
{Master of Waves}
{Akroan Horse}
{Celestial Archon} 1 promo, 1 normal
{Ember Swallower}
{Boon Satyr}
{Gift of Immortality}
{Agent of Fates}
{Colossus of Akros}
{Arbor Colossus}
{Anthousa, Setessan Hero}
{Nighthowler}
{Prognostic Sphinx}
{Anax and Cymede}
{One-Hundred Handed One} 2x
{Psychic Intrusion}
And still have a Fat Pack to open. ^All for trade except Thoughseize, Anax and Cymede, One-Hundred Handed One and Temple of Silence.
I got to attend a prerelease today. Here's how it went:
I chose white as my color, for the insane promo I would get to play in my deck. I pulled an {Erebos, God of the Dead} in my first pack, so I thought I would end up playing black. However I ended up pulling insane blue control cards such as {Journey's End}, {Revenge of the Sea God}, etc., and white bestow cards to back it up. So I ended up playing blue white control. The guy next to me also went UW control, as he pulled a better version of my deck, complete with an {Elspeth, Sun's Champion}. We both pulled solid finishers such as {Prognostic Sphinx}.
My first match was against BUG control. He beat me game 1, but games 2 and 3 punished him for running 3 colors. So far I was 1-0 after going to game 3 and winning.
Match 2 I was pitted against a fellow blue white deck. However I was playing control, and his deck was a focussed aggro deck, which took advantage ofthe new heroic mechanic. Game 1 he blew me out of the water with a double striker bestowed with two creatures. We went to game 2 and I was able to counter his first spell, allowing me to stabalize. Game 3 my opening hand was 6 lands and a 2 mana counterspell that forces your opponent to pay 1 or have their spell countered. I kept it, knowing I had bombs in the 5, 6, and 7 slots. I coutered his first spell, and dres into what I needed to win decicively. So far it was looking good with a 2-0 record. Apparently my opponent was splashing red for {Lightning Strike}, which didn't make his draws very reliable. Again with the 3 color deck losing.
Match 3 was against a classic Gruul smash deck. He had solid creatures and combat tricks, and ran almost no enchantments, which made some of my pre-boarded hate dead. I could see why he had gotten so far. However even so, the mass quantity of threats that my deck contained was enough to keep his attackers at bay, while slowly building power and eventually killing him 2 games in a row. 3-0 records are good.
My final matchup was against the only other undefeated guy, who turned out to me the man who sat next to me while we made our decks. He offered to split, and I accepted. However we still played for fun.
Game 1 I managed to get my 4/5 hexproof blue six drop out on turn 6, slapping a new aura creature onto it every turn. I won.
Game 2 I sided out every blue card in my deck and added red, turning it into a red-white heroic smash deck. I lost game 2 though, due to a turn 6 {Prognostic Sphinx}. My {Act of Treason} effect couldn't do much against it.
Game 3 I kept with the red white plan. I knew I just got lucky game 1, and that his deck was simply a better version of the blue white deck I had. This game I led out with a {Phalanxe Leader}, which later got returned to my hand, erasing some counters he had. However I was able to keep the pressure on, ending by swingig with the leader enchanted with the white promo archon, and stealing his 3/4 flying bird with an act of treason effect.
In the end I never lost a match, and gave my last opponent his only 2 game losses in the night, due to a a sneaky sideboard and some luck. I officially got first place, even though we split. Top 3 got a dragonscale card box which fits an edh deck and a regular deck, and has room for dice. It also came with a legion spindown d20. As the first placer, I also got a playmat. Both me and my final opponent got 12 packs. It was my first sealed event win ever, so I thought I would share. Thanks for reading!
