Title: We lost a great kid today..
Post by: plainswalker666 on September 18, 2013, 01:18:06 AM
Today at 9:26pm PST. My brother 12 year old brother Danny lost his battle with Brain Cancer. After being diagnosed at age 4. His doctor's said he only had a year to live. His only passion was school, baseball and playing the game that we all love Magic The Gathering. To him it was a game where you can escape from the everyday normalcy and into a world of mystical creatures and grand illusions. As I am trying my hardest not to cry as i am posting this, all I can say is. I Love You Bro, and I will miss you So Much. Goodbye my friend...

We all have different amounts of time to spend in this world and any life to know love is a life well lived. Im glad he could know love, fun and joy where most would only hardship. You obviously played large part in that, thank you hero.

As a friend of mine once said:"A life without happiness is not a life at all". I am very sorry for your loss for I know how that feels. My brother and sister lost our third of the four of us when she was born. I have also lost all my grandfathers and grandmothers. If I may, I would like to say a few things...

@ Kaleo and Fire: Thank you so much for your words, and I must say I am no hero. I am just a regular guy who loved his little brother, but I can say that the life he had was the best one possible.

Yeowch. I'm not going to say "I know how you feel" because I really don't. I've never been through anything this hard. He seems like he was a good kid, and I'm sure he looked up to you- he seemed like a good kid, don't forget him. I am so sorry for your loss... I'm not really religious, but if I believed in god and heaven I'm sure your little bro would be floating around up there, having a good time, with all the Magiccards he could ever want.

My condolences bro :( childhood cancer has always baffled me. I don't want to turn this into a thread debate about religion, but child cancer has also always been a battle against my faith. I've never been able to understand if there was a God why he would allow something so innocent to develop such a terrible disease. My father passed away 9/11/09 after battling colon cancer, so I've seen up close what cancer does to the human body. It is so horrible that I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy let alone a child. If there really IS a "God" and afterlife, I just wanted to make sure you knew your brother is in a better place and not suffering anymore. That's what helped me get passed my father, I was just happy to know he was not in any more pain. Because of this event in my life, it has moved me to study cancer research. If I am able to use my brain to help someone not go through what I saw my dad go through, that would be the greatest reward for me. I decided to use that horrible time for altruistic purposes. Stay strong buddy, and I don't like speaking for anybody else but in this case I think it safe to say all of us are here for you.

Well just got back from the funeral home and it is gonna cost me at the minimum $24,680 to properly bury my brother. So its time to say goodbye to the game I have been playing since the beginning. I really hate to sell all of my cards but my brother is more important. I really appreciate all the support everyone has givin me. A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE...

Just know that the cards are only things and they can be replaced at some point in your life's journey. I'm sending out lots of love and support to you and your family. And to have had the opportunity to know, mentor, and love your brother is a gift in and of itself that you can cherish forever. It's a very bittersweet situation and my heart breaks for you :( <3

I celebrate with you a short but beautiful and well lived life. Your brother sounds like an awesome person. I'll also keep you in my thoughts and prayers-I know this is a terrible time. Sharing about your brother is a perfect and fitting continuation of who he is.

Another way that helps me cope with the loss of a loved one is to memorialize them. I think to an extent this is a healthy and therapeutic option

Just a heads up everyone. I got approved for a $30,000 loan from my bank. So I will be able to give my brother a proper burial.

Thanks again everyone for responding to this. It truly makes me feel like I'm apart of one big family.

We are a big family! We quarrel, we joke, we support, and we love :) I'm so happy you could provide your brother with the type of memorial he surely deserves. I'm sure his spirit is smiling down on you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to understand what you are going through, but keep your head up and stay strong, the way a man confronts and perseveres through life's trials is what defines him.
