Title: D&D and Magic
Post by: DylanW18 on September 18, 2013, 12:29:12 AM
So I was curious if anyone played D&D as well? I have a fascination with turning Magic Cards into characters. And my most recent venture was {Geist of Saint Traft}. I prefer 4e, but any set of D&D works. Any ideas on Class/Race?

I used to play when my friends and I were younger. But it really is time-consuming, and with our busy lives now, we don't have the time to write campaigns and play them out anymore. Fortunately, we started playing Magic instead!

I'm with Gorzo, RL hit my RP group with the "Disband" hammer. Kids, jobs, marriages and the like killed defeated us all. :). Was a blast while it lasted. I do like your idea. Think it's something everyone has in some sense, if not about MtG then some other item.

My dad used to play and he got me playing for a little while but like everyone else has said, we don't have time.

That's an interesting idea! I used to play D&d, but not anymore. It'd probly be best to make his class something along the line of paladin or one of the prestige classes of it, or, I believe in one of the books there is a "saint" template :)

I play, love to, it's really fun.  Me and my friends gather at the college every Monday and do a campaign, so we don't get seriously far in the storyline but it is fun as .poo..

I ran into a guy at Walmart looking at Magic cards and he was talking about how he mixed D&D with Magic... Wish I would have paid more attention...

I actually did build a way to play both at the same time. Where Planeswalker was a class. It was cool. One person playing magic, the other D&D. And with a few exceptions, it wasn't that broken lol

That WOULD be cool. Having some of the abilities that let you travel between planes such as Astral Projection would be essential for a Planeswalker class.

In your dreams, full elf ranger with improved crit, QuickDraw.  If someone doesn't want to talk or anything they die.  Simple as that.

I just reviewed my character sheet, and in 4e, I can have 2 attacks, 2 moves, and 2 minor actions per turn. Then once per encounter I can make that all 3 of each per turn. Legitimately. In game rules. No Homebrew lol

The beauty of Wikipedia:

"In their first appearance in the game's 3rd Edition Fiend Folio, shadar-kai are fey from the Plane of Shadow, often found in forests and underground.

In the 4th Edition Monster Manual, shadar-kai originate from the Shadowfell. They typically have ashen skin, raven-black eyes, tattoos, scarifications, and piercings. Common hairstyles include long & loose, braids, and elaborately shaved heads. Many shadar-kai worship and serve the Raven Queen, the goddess of death, due in part to their philosophy on death, that it is foretold at birth and cannot be avoided. Like the eladrin, shadar-kai can teleport, but unlike their counterparts, they return in an insubstantial form for a short period of time."

I remember playing 3e, there was a broken jump combo in it. Boots of Springing and Striding plus Ring of Jumping. Gives you like +50 on jump checks. That's like the equivalent of a standing jump of 6-7 feet in the air
