{Mind rot}, {thoughtseize}, {Rakdos's return}, {lifebanezombie}, {sire of insanity}, {duress}, etc
What about controlling the board, should I run blockers or kill spells galore?
KILL! KILL! KILL!!! {doom blade} & {heros downfall} are good starting points.
Plenty of burn too! Can help you with removal as well as sneak in those last couple points of damage to your opponent if needed
{Sire of insanity} for discard, {Blood Scrivener} and {Deadbridge Chant} for card advantage
Go creature removal, {ultimate price}, {doom blade} preferably. {murder} for 3 cmc is a bit expensive
Good old {Dreadbore}

Can't believe I forgot that card. The destroy planeswalker MAKES that card. Too bad this is standard or I'd recommend {terminate} or even {tyrannize}
Updated with the now-standard stuff, what do y'all think? Also, what should be dropped for what post-theros?
Solid black control decks run 8+ skill spells. Sadly, we're losing our boardwipe {mutilate} with rotation.
Black is now über weak against mid-range tokens or multiple creatures per turn plays.

I think {Shrivel}, {Illness in the Ranks}, and {Rakdos Charm} can help with controlling the board, but there is still a big gap left by mutilate leaving as you said
