Title: Post rotation Boros deck.
Post by: Agrajagzz9 on September 10, 2013, 11:15:26 AM
 4x {Young Pyromancer}
4x {Boros Reckoner}
4x {Chandra's Phoenix}
3x purpheros, god of the forge
1x heliod, god of the sun

4x {Magma Jet}
4x Lightning strike
3x Cain to the rocks
2x {Mizzium Mortars}
1x {shock}

3x {Assemble the Legion}

2x {Chandra, Pyromaster}
1x elspeth, suns champion

The name of the gam here is to get porph on the field on turn four and just use young pyromancer to make guys and build a defensive board. Then use spells and assemble to wear away damage

I feel like I want a better spell than chains to the rock. It's an aura so it doesn't trigger young pyromancer and its useless against control. I also feel like since the land base is slower I won't need to worry so much about the early turns. Does everyone think I need a one drop creature? Maybe loyalist?

Maybe the new Soldier of the Pantheon? {W} 2/1 with protection from multicolor and when someone casts a multi spell you gain 1 life. It could stall out some games early with that protection

That could work

And is a great answer to T2 {Loxodon Smiter} which is pretty common

I am not sure though. I know the concept is good but maybe adding a color will help. I guess I will just wait and see what rotation standard is like to see if I need to be faster

Adding a color is gonna make the price triple just from shocklands

Want to speed this deck up? Devotion land. Cards like {boros reckoner} scream devotion. I'd also make room for boros charm. It says burn 4 for 2mana. OP instant speed lava axe right there.

Boros charm is ok but I am not a burn deck an I don't know that it would be good. Maybe over the chained to the rocks?

If I took out the pyromancer a and made it a midrange deck what does everyone think of legions initiative? Blink all the guys an trigger purpheros

{Boros charm} also says you don't fear board wipes and you can block without worry. It triggers pyromancer. It's also a 2-drop lol

I really like the 1-red enchantments. Slow, but they'll still help with devotion land. You could always side them against big creature decks.

If you play devotion land, you'd also slip in 1-2 {Aurelia's fury}

Consider cutting the cain's for {boros charm} or more {mizzium mortars}.

Text+MC for lighting strike?

Lightning strike is the exact same as searing spear. The difference is the name and the art.

Honestly Ik chain doesn't work well with pyromancer, but it's a very powerful removal spell so I'd recommend still keeping it. I agree with the comment about too many phonixes though, I'd cut maybe 1-2 for boros charm. Just such a versatile card, and hey if the boards free, give your god double strike. Yeah.
