Title: UWR
Post by: Boringanarchy2 on September 08, 2013, 03:27:08 AM
So I'm looking at theros and wonder if the blue non-god legend, the red god, thassa, and Young Pyomancer might be good. My deck would have:

4 {{Steam Vents}}
10 Island
9 Mountain

4x {{Young Pyromancer}}
2x Thassa
4x Purphorus
3x Master of Waves

3x {{Magma Jet}}
2x {{Assemble the Legion}}
3x {{Izzet Charm}}
3x {{Azorious Charm}}
3x {{Molten Birth}}
2x {{Chandra, Pyromaster}}
2x {{Barrage the expendables}}
3x {{supreme verdict}}
3x {{Sphinx's Revelation}}

With assorted burn and and counterspells. Other option would be to splash white for Sphinx's Revelation.

UWR has white, so saying you're splashing white for the revelation doesn't make sense if you're already running Daxis

And it's certainly a possible deck. {Warleader's Helix} is solid

Messed up the title, should be just UR. Not running Daxis, this deck is trying to maximize Lord of Waves and Young Pyrancer. The former will mean running more blue creatures, though. Gameplan is to drop elementals for damage with Purphoros, fling them with barrage, finish off with efficient beats, burn, and counters.

How would you feel about making room for abrupt decay? Works really nice with young pyromancer out, ESP with prophus or whoever

Are you drunk? No offense meant. You're just suggesting a removal spell that's in the two colors that he isn't.

Edit: maybe you should consider {Nivmagus Elemental}? Or Omenspeaker.

Count the # of instants/sorcerers he has. Look at what his deck is trying to do. Niv wouldn't make much sense in the deck

I really think you should consider splashing a little white. Purphoros +  {Assemble the Legion} = Scary.

Most high-drop 'combos' tend to be scary.

Maybe add the scrying burn spell from theros (1R) to trigger young pyro and control the field. {izzet charm} would work as well plus it could help you filter through your deck.

Awesome idea, I was looking at goblins, but Assemble should be much more dependable.

What do you think, {{Supreme Verdict}} or new Elspeth? Latter means tokens and sweeps that don't hurt my game plan.

Biggest problem is that young Pyromancer and devotion don't really work together. I may have to cut Lord of Waves and Thassa.

I think you should drop one purphoros in favor of something else, 4 is a little heavy since you can only have one on the field at a time, you'd just be wasting space in your hand holding onto it if you drew one after you already played one.

I'd remake the deck in white-red. You aren't playing any more blue really. You'll have more access to burn anyways.

I would except I lose izzet and Azorious charms which are awesomely flexible, as well as Sphinx's Rev

Burn type decks typically don't want to draw the game out with azorius charm. You will miss izzet charm tho, yea.

If you go red-white, you could play heavy red/white cards (Boros reckoner, boros charm,etc) and that devotion land for really fast gameplay.
