Title: How to tell real cards from fake cards
Post by: JaCe BeLeReN on March 11, 2012, 07:44:55 AM
I am thinking about buying some cards online and they are near mint and very cheap for the card. At first I thought it was great but then I thought it might be a ripoff. I can return them within one week so is there a way to tell if they are fake. No I haven't bought them yet

Why not ask the seller why the odd price.

Because the seller might then ask for more? Usually with fake cards the cardstock which they are printed on is thinner than the normal card because they  use a treatment to erase the original card. At least this is from my understanding. The top surface probably won't be perfect either.

There are tests, but some of them are almost destructive.

Look at the black edges ad make sure they are even. Also look for out of focus portions and spots where their scan or picture might be have had a mistake. Also if u do buy them, weight them anything they add or subtract would be noticed.

And finally. If this is eBay people sell digital cards on mtg online which may explain a lot look at the product description again
