Here is what I asked on Blogatog the answer I got:
alexcm4297 asked: Are there any plans and/or thoughts of making another form of alternate mana like Phyrexian mana in the future?
No comment. : )

That's exciting :D
That is pretty cool!
So it's a possibility now. What do you think it will be?
This is a difficult design and It is more likely that this was the issue with the set rosewater wanted for this year than new colors or other theories i have heard.
New mana huh...thinking of how I would do that....
Yes, new mana is really hard to make from a development standpoint. If you make it too easy to cast (like if Phyrexian mana only 1 life) it becomes OP.
Not purple again... 😳
Hate to be the killer here but doesn't MaRo give that reply to everything?

No, unless he can't answer the question (because it will spoil something) he usually gives a straight answer. Also, you submit questions and he chooses which he answers so he picked this for a reason.

Hoping for control playable, wizards dousnt realize that devotion is useless for control

the {Gray Merchant of Phosodel} would be really good for control if control used more permanents, like enchantments. For example, {Dark Prophecy} is amazing for devotion.

I liked purple, it was a really cool color, with a nice flavor. And to my dismay, they axed it off.

What if the new mana depleted the library instead of life?

Hmm interested so like if the cost was 1X where X is the new mana symbol. You can pay it with either {B} or by milling 1?

milling one would be way too overpowered. You would have to mill three in order for it to be balanced
60/3=20
Maybe 4 or 5
Maybe you exile the cards? Anyway, the library is another resource people could use to gain card advantage. And I haven't really ever seen it done. Gorzo had said this idea might be OP. but that doesn't mean the library can't be exchanged in other ways. What color do you think would exchange the library for card advantage most?

Blue
Blue would get the card advantage but Golgari would be good if the cards just go in the graveyard. Because Scavenge would benefit and {Scavenging Ooze} would have an all you can eat buffet lol

Isn't that the dredge mechanic?

which is why I think exiling would be better. And it could fit into any color that way
An dredge takes things from the grave yard not plays them

But you could always just make your library slightly bigger. Actually no, this idea just seems too good. Mill instead of pay? Even exiling to make cards cost less? That sounds EXTREMELY dangerous to me.
