So I encountered this interesting situation when at FNM last night. My opponent and I both had Aetherling on the board, mine was actually a {Clone} of his. He wipes the board with {Supreme Verdict} and of course exiles his Aetherling. Somebody said I had played the situation wrong having not used my cloned aetherling's ability to to exile and return. Thinking about this, once I use the cloned aetherling's ability to exile, wouldn't it not just be a clone again, in which it would simply not come back having lost Aetherling's abilities?
It would still work but it would ETB as a clone as there is nothing to copy.
it stops being an aetherling when it changes zones. It will enter as a clone. If the board is empty, that will kill it as its a 0/0
So it does still re-enter because of the way the effect was worded on aetherling. I guess that's what is confusing me.
Ya. Imagine where it says {U} : exile aetherling blah blah blah, it says exile "this card" instead. Makes more sense that way.

I will also add that if both of you exile your dudes they will reenter in APNAP order. Active Player Non Active Player order. This means the active player will put their return ability onto the stack and then the nonactive player will put theres on the stack. Nonactive players will return first (in the case of clone it will have to find something to copy or die) then the active player's will return (in the case of clone it would copy most likely the ætherling again.
And just so I'm positive, the active player referring to the player whose turn it is?

Yes
Appreciate the help, thanks!
So if I have an {Aetherling} and a {Progrniter Mimic} on the board if I blink both I can have the Mimic come back first and then the Aetherling, the Aetherling will resolve first and I can then Mimic it. Is this correct?
Ya, you can stack the triggers in the order you want if you control both. Putting the mimic renter trigger first then aetherling, so the aetherling enters first and mimic can copy it.
