What do you guys think about doing a poll every month for Member of the Month? I thought it'd be nice to reward the members who are actively helping make this community a better place. The only thing is idk how to make a poll on my phone and I'm unsure of how to do the rewards as I won't be able to be the only one offering up the rewards, it would get too expensive lol.
Thoughts?
I like it, spread some user appreciation! My only worry about a poll is that users with less votes might feel bad, when the entire purpose of it is to make users feel good.

I like and dislike the idea of the mods doing it...I like it bc I know that the voting would be done fairly and unbiased...I dislike it bc some of the mods NEED to be voted for by the members of the community so they know what they do is appreciated, and if its just mods doing it they wouldn't get to see our appreciation.

This could be done rather easily.
I think this is a good idea if done correctly and if multiple people can help a contribute. Plus one for the good idea

Maybe a way to stop cheating or such is to:
You have to be able to +1 and -1 to be able to vote
Or
Have to have had an account a month prior to the end of the poll
I would actually appreciate a mods help on this. They can see the IP address of members and that alone will help rid the chances of multiple accounts, also mods will be more experienced at this kind of thing and I can only access this forum and app on my phone.
Any thoughts on how to do the rewards? Should we have multiple people chip in a card each month, obviously only willing people?
I like this! It'll give everyone an incentive to be even MORE respectful to one another. Eventually everyone can be member of the month in the same month because we're all so awesome. 😉

Multiple accounts can be tracked and the members should have to be members for a month and that can also be tracked. Also it's probably good for mods to decide but also have a public poll like how the US votes for president

Ip addresses can be monitored by mods. Plus I think we should make sure the members voting have over 100 posts, and they've been active for atleast a whole month. This way we know they are an active member in the community.
Also, my first vote is going to a mod. It's an excellent way of expressing appreciation. Lastly, I don't want community members to get upset when a mod wins. I could see that happening. Say 2 mods win back to back months. Couldn't you see someone saying "they are fixing the votes in their favor." No I don't believe they'd ever do that but not everyone has my mindset.
I doubt the mods would ever set anything up like that and usually the mods are helpful so wouldn't be surprised if they won.

I don't believe they'd do anything deceitful either, but some might. Kind of wondering what the mods think about this. Would they like to do it internally? Or would they like to see how the entire community views them and other members? I'm inclined to think the latter, but I could be wrong.
Oh and Gorzo, I'm all for you taking on the job of vote...uh tallier.

This is honestly a great idea in my opinion. Obviously it has to be a private voting system most likely through PM's but I think it has potential to get the already wonderful members of this community to have even more motivation to continue being developmental in the forum.

how about, members can't win again until the next year. Someone could win January, March, June, September, and November

This is a good idea!!!! Are we starting next month? And can we submit votes BEFORE the month starts, but AFTER the voting ends for that month?
I'd say votes should be submitted between the 1st and 25th of each month, only for that month. To avoid confusion :)
How's everyone feel about players only being able to win once a year? I think some people may deserve it more then once.
Oh and I'd say yes voting should start on the first of next month....so like a day or 2 lol
Maybe we should shorten to voting period to a week or two, to make it easier on Gorzo.
I think that's a bad idea the winner shouldn't be able to win consecutivly but once a year is kinda unfair if the winner deserves another MOTM (member of the month) award they should win it.
Nor do I. There are some members I can think of that deserve to win more then once bc of consistency in helping and making he communit a better place

Why not do a member of the year, so a member can win twice, yet it gives a chance for other people to win. And the member of the year can be someone who won the previous month, since there's only one a year

You'll see the same people answering rules questions. This is extremely helpful bc I've found that in mtg there's always some new situation that presents itself, and there are a few guys that go out of their way to answer these questions and I appreciate it even if they aren't my questions.

Thinking this is a great idea! As long as its like advertised to up and coming members who stay active too somehow!
