Title: Archenemy & Planechase
Post by: BlackJester on October 22, 2011, 08:48:56 PM
Has anyone else played these formats?  I finally convinced my group to give Archenemy a try. It was a lot of fun and moved faster than Free For All. They still don't wan to try Planechase, though.

Chaos is more fun than which, Archenemy, Planechase, or free for all?  Chaos ~ Planechase IMHO.

How to play Planechase:

I have played Archenemy and LOVE it, my friend owns a few of the sets and have played with 6+ defenders at one point! Was well wicked!

Plane chase I have not had the chance but would love too!

My group is 8 new players (started two months ago) with 3 additional ex-players. It's a pretty casual group so I know it's going to be a long process to get them into some of the other formats. We have forayed into two-headed-giant games which are a ton of fun and a nice change of pace.

What was the first extracurricular format you/your group got into, and what would you suggest for a mostly new group? We have been eyeing the commander sets...

Definitely try the Commander format, it's HEAPS of fun and it's the most similar in game to how the game was played when I first started, before every second card was a turn three win condition. I stared with Revised (or Fourth Ed, I can never remember precisely) and we pretty much only did every man for themselves, occansionally dabbled in Two-Headed Giant (or an approximation of as it's existence eluded us!)
