Consider what the ability does, what cards have the ability and how it is used.

I'm a big fan of first strike, myself. On the offense, it gives you a massive aggressive edge, and on defense it makes your opponent rethink every possible swing. I love holding off 7/2 tramplers with a pair of 1/1 first-strikers.

But in all seriousness First Strike.  It is underated, and I take it over double strike because of this.

When they make a Double strike card,  it is too powerful to put at 1 CMC.  First Strike is on the other side of that spectrum saying a 1 CMC first Stike.  Powerful, but not too power ful.  Right???  WRONG!  I love it because of...  A screwed over {Lightning Ball} that's why!

I was thinking of {Thunderblust}, but my {Ash Zealot} will block that {Spark Trooper} all day ;)

Protection from XXX, if that's permitted.

If not, Double Strike and Hexproof are both awesome. Death touch is in there, because of all the great cards with it {Master of Cruelties} and {Glissa the Traitor} mainly.

Flying. It is the most flavorful mechanic in my eyes. Also the least OP. All of the combat effectors and other types of evasion can become broken very fast. Each format has to scew itself to counteract the OP tendancies such as hexproof and auras requiring excessive sacriice effects.
