4-0'd last Friday with this agressive control deck. It totally fits my style. The Jund match up was hilarious

Can't use Counsel to overload {Cyclonic Rift}

You can. It's still the same spell, regardless of its cost.

Rifts casting cost is {1}{U}
Overload doesn't count in this case, same reason you aren't able to {Snapcaster Mage} to Flashback an overload cost because it isn't the cards cmc.

Sorry, but I got you on this one. I'm not playing snapcastor, I'm playing Council. The link will explain everything

Can you post an updated version for me? Im planning to make something similar :)

This is just the brew I play. It's not a meta deck (yet) so there isn't a newer build. This particular brew is made to last post rotation. I don't think I'm changing it. It's working really really well at my FNM

If you're interested in playing this before rotation, you can mix in buddy lands, think twice and dissipates. And board all those blue-white side board cards we all know and love :)

I tried playing Gideon, but he never performed well enough outside the control mirror so I removed him.

This caught my eye and I built it on cockatrice, only with no {Aetherling} and added {Staff of Nin}. Either way, great job on this deck. +1, you have got a creative mind! The deck performed well, and was fun to play.

Thanks for the compliment! :)

It's a control deck that stands a fighting chance against Jund

Hey man really like the deck. I was thinking abou making something similar, as I really love haunted plate mail. Have you thought about {azorius keyrune}? Midht be good bc it helps ramp but also allows for pressure after board wipes.

Considering an American version of this. I like {Warleader's Helix} with council. A lot. Also, if its American, what do you think of the synergy between {Assemble theLegion} and {Tajic, Blade of the Legion}?

I tried to stay away from 3 colors because buddy land are rotating out.

I could see Tajic and assemble the legion, but assemble would be a 1-3 of. I prefer Tajic with frontline medics, angels, etc

Even without the buddy lands, you only really need one set of duals when It comes down to it. And both would only be 1-of anyway.

Late game, this deck is just supposed to keep boardwiping and countering. Depending on my hand and the field, I sometimes call Syncopate with Council on turn 5.

Angel can be kill spelled as well. It's safer to overload {cyclonic rift} or cast {supreme verdict} then swing with platemails

{azorius keyrune}? I think it'd work well with ramping (for sphinxes revo) and swinging after board wipes.

You can try it. I personally don't like using keystones other than rakdos keystone outside of draft. It'd be better to draw a rift or azorius charm.

Still competitive. 3-0-1 last FNM. People had their sideboards stacked against me lol.

More thoughts please :)

I played a similar list on Friday and I either went 3-0-1 or 2-1-1, I can't remember. I was also playing {Riot Control}, which you should definitely consider. I'm also having a last run on Tamiyo, because she's insane. I pulled her emblem and cast riot control 4 times because council made it cost less (On opponents turn, after I cast council).

Would it be control BURN or control AGGRO? I could help, I've run both.

I'm playing 2x Aetherling. I play 3 plate and 3 council. I'm also playing Tamiyo and {Riot Control} both as 2-ofs.

is it possible to stack the triggers for plate mail, then have multiple 4/4 spirits???
Also, have you ever considered any more {Mutavault}s?

This deck could run more mutavault, but only If you played buddy lands. Sadly, they're rotating out :/

Except when you pull off a Tamiyo emblem, play council naming Riot Control, then they attack and you cast Riot Control 4 times to gain 16 life. Yes, I actually did this. Yes, he scooped.

I'm willing to bet Mutavault will be reprinted for days. Haunted plate mail is just fun right now because it plays like an old card and it randomly gets there.

I haven't been looking at furthering this deck. The red legend enchant seems to fun to pass up.

Cyclonic rift is going to be house next format. Lol. That and anything else that exiles.

I'm getting pretty tired of people thinking every deck "nedz moar mutavult," because they don't. In some cases it does occasionally win games, yes. I have never lost a game to it yet, though. I'm starting to like UB control from all the spoilers. Maybe esper. Not sure. But I'm not dishing out for mutavaults, at least not for that deck.
