Title: So Everyone
Post by: imthelolrus on August 20, 2013, 12:04:48 AM
What do you do outside of Magic: the Gathering?! Share any bit of your personal life. I'm curious :)

I'll go first, naturally. I'm in graduate school studying Marriage Family Therapy, with a traineeship at a k-8 school. I just started working part time as a Behavioral Tutor teaching all sorts of things to children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In addition, I love cooking and music from various genres. I meditate and as lots of you already know I have a son and currently engaged to Moneekah :D

Well, I used myself as an example. It can be anything at all, simply "I'm a high school student  in 11th grade I love pizza." not too much detail obviously, but enough to give everyone a sense of who we are as people. Most of the people I recognize or "know" on here I only know by a simple username and avatar.

I know, lol. I really enjoy things musical, and I spend a lot if time on Guitar and Saxaphone myself.  I also play some Minecraft to help my artistic skills, I want to be an architect/interior designer, and that helps a lot. My school is starting up so I won't be able to do much, though. And I read/draw a TON. Although I kind of suck at drawing. Though, that might be because Whitedrake made me feel that way. 😉Lol. Sports I do Tennis and Ice Hockey.

I play in bands and recently fell in love with podcasting. I'm currently putting ideas together to start my own podcast. It will be about good, bad, and cult movies. I am also going bald and have a receding hairline, so I decided to buzz my head really short so I don't look older than I am. Which is 25.

Will I get a negative karma for sharing? I feel like I will for what I'm going to say

I'm in 8th Grade (or going to be in a week or so). I play tennis, and used to do swim team, but my Mom wants me to start swimming again even though I'm out of shape for it. I'm in band and chorus, although I don't really like band much (another Mom thing). I like Alternative Rock, and my favorite band is Muse.

Bah, just spill it :P  Seriously, don't worry too much about karma!

I'm 18, starting at a community college today. Well, I'm taking all online classes, so I'm sort of starting "at" college :P  I play way too many video games, but I try to balance it out with work. I work at a humane society and clean kennels and such. Doesn't sound like much, but I love it!  Enough that I've been having more fun at work than at home playing games lol 😒  I'm single (very happily!) and am still at that point where I don't have a damn clue what I want to do after college :P  Oh, and if that's not any indication, I'm also a bit overly-vulgar in non-PG9 environments 😅

I could go on, but I don't want to write a book on here again lol.

I work part time as a dish washer at a restaurant.  When I don't have plans hanging out with my friends I usually stay home and play black ops 2.  I'm Turing 21 in 22 hours and 34 minutes and and single, unfortunately.  Taking a break from college classes at the moment because I remembered how much school sucks.  And when I am hanging out with friends we really love playing D&D (and you thought MtG was nerdy enough...)

I try really hard to be the most neutral at everything and so I'm an incredible diplomat.

What do I do: work full time on a horse farm,  animal caretaking, general maintenance, landscaping. Takes a lot of effort.

Outside that: I have an amway partnership through LTD, a company my uncle founded and whether or not you or someone else is opinionated on, fuels my mtg hobby.

Personal interests and ongoings: I am 35 years old, I am divorced, and I live in a van, down by the river.

Nah jk, I just love that chris farly skit and get the opportunity to act it out at meetings sometimes

I love acting, comedy and drama, community theater when I have time. Which I don't.

Anime and otakuism: This is my big one, I actually pay for crunchy roll. I watch at least 75 - 125 hrs of anime per month. Went to otakon and also enjoy cosplaying. Might be going to anime usa next month as joel from "the last of us"

Vidja games: all the rest of my time goes here. Working through things like "the last of us" (serious games) or my jrpg fetish (tales/persona/ff). I have to play heavy dialogued strong story games. My favorite so far is persona 4 for the intense social link experience. Though the "last of us" is quite possibly the best game ever made.

And just started ff 14 a realm reborn

So yeah I pretty much piss away my free time and money.

Getting a girlfriend would be sweet. I would gladly divide my time from some of those useless hobbies lol.

Mind you this is all outside of magic. Though I've played card games competitively for a long long time so I kinda have a knack for strategy. I may not be the best but I strive to take some sort of glory because I believe for me I need to shoot for some sort of goal if I'm gunna play competition.

I'm 6'2, 153 lbs. I have yellow eyes (yes for real, my grandpas favorite thing to say to me was "ain't never seen a boy with piss colored eyes afore.") and blonde hair that when left alone will turn into an afro, and not a silly Jew fro, like massive 70s discotech style. I'm also Caucasian.
Anyway, I'm 20, locked myself into food service at 18 when I worked as a server at a local nursing home. They loved me, became a cook, became extremely deppresed and experienced harrasment (not a big deal, but my then female boss was messed up). Quit a year later, couldn't find anything else so I took a plunge and moved in with my girlfriend in Omaha Ne late may.
Got another job at a local "Bag and Save" as a deli counter dude. In the two months I've again become depressed, I'd like to do more with my life than deal with dillholes who argue with me about weather or not I gave them enough legs in their 12 piece (it's 3 by the way, not that hard). However my awesome boss approched me yesterday and asked me "when I was going to start deli manager training, because I'd make a great one." On the fence about it, but I figured why not at least try training.
Hobby wise I like video games, some anime, and occasionally cooking. I have no real talent, so I do just about a little of everything. That about sums me up.

I'm starting school in a week and a half at UW-Madison, where I plan to pursue Civil Engineering. I enjoy listening to music of a variety of genres, although I enjoy much more in the experimental vein. I also enjoy playing vidya like League of Legends, Borderlands, and the Fallout series.

Vyse, do you work at the Bag n' Save off Dodge? I think it's near Pacific too. I have a friend that works there as well. (Not sure as to the extent of Bag n' Save in Omaha.)

I'm Batman.

Okay, no I'm not but here is the truth. I'm 16 living in Western New York. I start my Junior year in a week and a half. I spend 9 hours or more a day at the school or doing school activities during the school year, getting good grades (4.0 gpa), doing sports (Soccer and tennis), singing in three choirs (High School Chorus, Ape-Men (an all guys chorus) and Westwinds (a select chorus)), playing in the band ("Blow it up like Tuba"), answering questions in Nerd Bowl (academic bowl, its like team trivia) and we just successfully set up a Magic club (got an adviser and everything). I also work part time at the local Library during the summers. I like screwing around on the 'puter, do some reading and like playing Magic (I'm a Johnny). When I grow up I want to be a super villain or a king...if those don't work out I though I would try being a corporate lawyer. Oh and I know Mozilla Butcher.

24 years old from West Tennessee y'all :) I graduated from MTSU with a bachelor's in Equine Science, minor in Writing. I've trained horses since I was 15 years old and began showing at the age of 12. I love fishing, hiking, exploring, pretty much anything outdoorsy. Right now I train horses part time and work for a title company/attorney's office the majority of the week. I'm a workaholic.....pretty much.

I would love to travel all over the world and meet all kinds of people. That's my dream.

I am 16, starting junior year next Monday. I'm an intern at the Folger Shakespeare Library and Theatre in Washington DC (youngest intern ever!)
In my free time, I play EDH with friends, hike, fish, bike, and I also am an avid fencer. I love the outdoors and living right outside of the capital lets me pursue a love of the outdoors! Currently I'm visiting colleges up in New England.

I am 24 years old now and completed high school. I am currently finishing up my college bachelor degree in biochemistry. I work as a security guard and am often found playing Xbox. I don't play magic as often as I'd like, between hanging out with other friends that don't play, work and other things. My other hobbies include baseball, fishing, snowboarding, and golf.

As I said in another thread, I love the outdoors, and want to stay in the wild for a month, if I can. When i find insects in my house, i bring them outside. I love listening to the birds (no surprise) and I work at a library. I'm writing a book right now, someday I may get around to posting it on here. It's not the story I posted a while back. I eat dinner at my moms house every Sunday night. Not sure about my taste in music, looking for new things to listen to

I'm 31 married with 2 kids. I work as a technician in the petroleum field doing everything from new convenience store installs to oil field tanks. Prior to that I was an elevator technician for 8 years. I hike, fish, hunt, I do extreme survival and pretty much anything outdoorsy that interests me. I like all music as it is a perfect form of expression. I read all the time. I am an American history buff, with a preference for WW2 era. I collect antique firearms. I used to play a lot of pc games (never been much of a console gamer, though I did buy an Xbox for halo), but now I don't have time for it since I had my daughter. I love to cook (mainly real Mexican food). I used to play competitive mtg but life took over and now it's just FNM and prereleases.

My name is Jason.  I live in Columbia, MO with my wife.  I'm 27, have a bachelor's degree in History and Anthropology, and am just finishing up my first week of law school.  Favorite band ever is Rush, but I mostly listen to contemporary rock.  Recently I've been jamming some Dead Letter Circus, but chances are if the band can loosely be described as rock, I've heard of them.  Love science fiction, especially Orson Scott Card and Iain Banks.
Have you heard of CAKE? They're my favorite band :)

Oh hi there, I'm otis. I've been out of the Marine Corps for almost a year now and I'm at the ripe old age of 22. Currently attending Georgia State University studying Finance. My dream job would be a CFO or financial advisor for a video game or game industry! I want to be in the area, but not be burnt out by games at the end of the day to not want to play them. That being said, I'm obsessed with gaming. I spend most of my time playing League of Legends or RPG's and JRPG's. Planning on devoting a lot of time to Final Fantasy XIV in the very near future. 😉 Anyway, didn't think I would end up writing this much so I'll stahp.

I'm 32, married with 2 kids, both with autism. Been in the us Navy for almost 11 years now, currently stationed in camp lejeune. Going to school to finish my business management degree. Started playing magic with 4th edition and chronicles. Stopped playing at onslaught block. Started back up with dark ascension. Only play R/G Aggro. Majority of my magic playing involves cockatrice. Played coffee vampire on there in legacy with my land destruction deck, got raped. Play FNM maybe once a month. Too busy otherwise.

This is my second time stationed there. I try to make the most of it. The store I go to has a good turnout for FNM, usually about 50 people. And the current state champ plays there.

I'm pretty jealous at the moment, I would kill for a monster. I've been riding for about a year and a half, I currently have an 05 ninja 250 (don't laugh), I love the little thing though, the thing rips through the twistes. The gixxer should move a little better though (time to buy leathers for the drag strip).

NH is the best, low crime, the states economy is not bad (it's known as one of the first to bounce back after hard times, although not so much after the last recession), people are known as "snobby", but I think it's just cause we mind our own business. We take the whole live free or die thing pretty seriously, there's VERY little violence, low crime, like anywhere there are places you don't want to go alone at night, but way less than a lot of places. I believe the next revolution will probably start here. It should be fun.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that in NH you can actually have a militia, in the event that government falls apart (I know, happens weekly). Idk, I just wish the government would actually make a single decision that seemed like it was what we wanted, so frustrating.

Texas constitution yes, but I believe it would be considered illegal per the papers signed when it became a state... Not to mention if we do we lose everything US like military bases so Mexico, other states could come on in and have at us... Damned if we do and damned of we don't...
