Title: Prince of thralls and counterflux
Post by: OrzhovRakdos on August 18, 2013, 12:25:16 PM
If an opponent casts like four creatures, and I overload counter flux, of I had prince of thralls on te battlefield, would those cards still go under my control unless they pay three, even though they were countered?
Prince of thralls: whenever a permanent an opponent controls is put into a graveyard, put that card into play under your control unless its controller pays 3 life

If the creature spell was countered, its not a permanent going to the battlefield. It is a spell. So the gain control ability won't trigger.

Secondly, unless all 4 creatures have flash and your opponent is casting them all at once, you can't {counterflux} them all. Just one. It counters all spells you dont control on the stack. The stack will be empty by the time the next creature spell is cast.

Yeah {Counterflux} was a stupid card to print, it's too confusing. A lot of people think it counters all cards cast that turn and works like {Silence}, others think it counters every thing played that main phase. {Counterflux} only counters you opponents spells that are currently on the stack. If someone casts a spell after Counterflux, it is not affected and if it was cast and then cleared (because no one responded to the casting) it is not affected.

 {Counterflux} when you think of that just think of  {Flusterstorm} and  {Grapeshot}
