Title: Scenario
Post by: prayos on August 15, 2013, 10:03:13 AM
You're playing against a Bant deck. It's pure homebrew, so you've never seen these cards used in this way. You're opponent lays down 2 {Thragtusk} in back to back rounds. You play you're creatures to block, keeping the Thrag's at bay. You're opponent puts {Detention Sphere} on his Thrag's, and passes turn. You swing out with your creatures, he blocks with his 2 beasts. They die, but your creatures live. Next turn, opponent casts {Supreme Verdict}, and then {Oblivion Ring} on his Det Sphere. You're tapped out with no cards in hand. How do you react?

I did this at my LGS last night during the final match of a win a box tournament. It was glorious.

ORinged his Liliana, he played another one and Oringed my Oring to kill em both.

Yeah, my opponent saw me cast the O-Ring, and looked really perplexed, cause he had nothing on the field. The people around were like "Oh .poo." The look on his face when he realized what was happening was just pure gold. He scooped, grabbed his stuff, and left. Didn't even stay for his winnings. Was great.

The thing is, he still had a chance to kill them off. Always play a game out. I don't know how many times I've been able to win out of a crazy top deck that swings the game back in my favour.
Admittedly the 20 lifegain you got from the thragtusks would make it a ton harder, but still. Make your opponent work for their win, never hand it over easily. It will make you a better player, and a tougher opponent.
