Title: Archangel of Thune and my lifelink partner
Post by: Paraluke on August 05, 2013, 10:40:16 AM
I have  {Archangel of Thune} and  {Tithe Drinker} in the battlefield.

I attacked with both creatures and my opponent blocked my  {Tithe Drinker} with a 2/2.

Will my drinker survive?

I understand each creature with lifelink activates the trigger ability of archangel (so this case it triggers twice), but will my drinker accumulate 2 +1/+1 counters in time to be alive?

(Modified for clarity. Thanks Taysby)

Just to clarify, damage does not reduce toughness, everything else was correct though including the drinker dying.

From the gatherer:

7/1/2013   A creature with lifelink dealing combat damage is a single life-gaining event. For example, if two creatures you control with lifelink deal combat damage at the same time, Archangel of Thune's ability will trigger twice. However, if a single creature with lifelink deals combat damage to multiple creatures, players, and/or planeswalkers at the same time (perhaps because it has trample or was blocked by more than one creature), the ability will trigger only once.

Which was why I asked. Will it die before it gain the counters? Probably I would think so since damage will be dealt before the counters are given. But just to be sure.

As taysby answered and i confirmed, yes the drinker will die before counters will be placed.

Okay, but just wanna note on taysby that it actually triggers twice when there are two lifelink creatures.
