Title: Planesmando
Post by: The1337Magician on August 03, 2013, 11:43:41 AM
My friends came up with an alternate version of Commander in which Planeswalkers replace your legendary creatures. This seemed like a cool idea to me, but not many color combinations can be made out of this yet. You have the five mono colors, all bi colors but Simic and Selesnya, Bolas for Grixis, and Karn for colorless. Is this viable?

You could also alter it further and only allow mono Planeswalkers as Generals, but your deck can have as many colors as you like.

Sounds like fun I will have to suggest it to my group sometime. Of course when I put  {Vraska the Unseen} in the command zone they might change their mind.

Yeah, one of my friends has a  {Skullbriar, the Walking Grave}/ {Vraska the Unseen} Commander/Planesmando deck. They tried to add the rule that her -3 and Bolas' +3 couldn't destroy other Planeswalkers. Also I think once they die it adds 3 colorless rather than 2. Otherwise it's just commander. My Odric EDH deck can switch out with Elspeth.

That takes away from the balance of commander. I like this whole idea but I think it's more of a "in the future" kind of deal for when thy make more Planeswalkers. I've also seen people playing commander games with just any creature as their general.

That's awesome, imagine an {Elvish Piper} commander deck.

Just mana ramp and like 10 drop creatures lol. Again it takes away from the balance of nature in the game though.

You want to talk about an unbalanced game? Try having {Prossh, Skyraider of Kher} as a General in a Dinner Plate style deck, then play {Preyseizer Dragon} after you've had to sack Prossh a few times, along with having created lots of Golbin token with {Krenko, Mob Boss}. All those tokens get gobbled by Preyseizer, and now you've got 30+ damage coming at you prior to combat, then another 30+ coming at you during combat.

I'm obviously a little bitter.

I went and grabbed a pair of scissors after that particular combat and placed them beside my boyfriend's deck, then I told him very nicely: "You have the option of getting rid of either Prossh or Preyseizer. Because if you don't take them out of that deck, then I'll cut them both up into itty bitty pieces." Lol.

my favorite combo is to play {B}{R} with {Liliana of the Dark Realms}  {Flameblast Dragon} {Extraplanar Lens}for a very very large pre combat fireball lol although my group decided that they would have each swamp count for 8{B} idk if it would tap for 5 or 8 but my group said it would be 8 lol then they found out i had flameblast {Blaze} {Fireball} and {Mana-Charged Dragon} to pay the land for
