Title: Gyre Sage & Elvish Archdruid
Post by: Hamstar on August 02, 2013, 11:04:49 PM
Hello,
Would playing an {Elvish Archdruid} cause my {Gyre Sage} to evolve? Does the trigger check power/toughness after the Archdruid is already on the battlefield?
     Thanks

No. Because archdruids ability is OTHER elfs get +1/+1. And no, because evolve triggers when it enters the battlefield, allowing archruids ability to work.

I think he is asking of the archdruid's bonus to the sage makes it so sage is a 2/3 before it can evolve from the 2/2 archdruid.

Its still no. evolve happens when it enters the battlefield, archdruids ability happens once it is on the battlefield.

Then I think you mean yes it would evolve. Unless I am not understanding you correctly.

Gyre 1/2
Elvish 2/2

Elvish comes in. Gyre checks itself. 1/2. Power lower than elvish 2/2. Evolves to 2/3.

Elvish is in. Gyre is now 3/4.

Is this correct?

I believe you are correct.

No, your {Gyre Sage} would not evolve. Due to the Archdruid's "Static" ability, your sage will have a +1/ +1 before it enters the battlefield.

Here's an article from a rules blog that says these two cards don't work together.
