Title: Door of Destinies Complexities
Post by: Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth on July 31, 2013, 08:22:26 AM
I knew you would look here...no one can resist rhymes!!!

Now to the question. {Door of Destinies} says that "When Door of Destinies comes into play, choose a creature type" "Whenever you play a spell of that type, put a charge counter on Door of Destinies", would tribal spells like {All is Dust} activate the charge counter ability and would other spells that make creatures of the type activate it? (e.g. if I choose Slivers would {Hive Stirrings} put a counter on it?)

I believe. So, because it is "choose a creature type" and "spell of the chosen type". The cast spell does not have a creature. Hive Stirrings will not, because it is just a sorcery, not a Sliver sorcery. I cannot find an official rule to cite this.

Seems legit. That's what I thought but wanted to make sure so some jerk at FNM doesn't yell at me.

Things that would activate it would be any creature of said type or any tribal spell of that type.
Say I choose Eldrazi. {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn}, {All Is Dust}, {Eldrazi Conscription}, {Not of This World} and  {Broodwarden} would all activate the Door.

Not to be a stickler, but this is to prevent confusion. Technically all those would trigger the door, not activate it as for its a triggered ability.

Just wanted to make it for cards such as {strionic resonator} which sounds like a fun idea.
