I've been playing for over a year now and I first learned of Jund ({B}{G}{R}) then I learned of Bant ({W}{U}{G}), Naya ({W}{G}{R}), Esper ({W}{B}{U}), and Grixis ({U}{B}{R}). It was pointed out to me by a store owner that these were all corner sections of the 5 point star colour scheme on the Magic card backs. Then I asked what about cards like {Kaalia of the Vast}, or {Ghave, Guru of Spores}, they're legends of opposite sided colours and he told me they don't have a name. Well today I have found their names!!!
Necra ({W}{G}{B})
Ana ({G}{B}{U})
Dega ({W}{B}{R})
Ceta ({U}{R}{G})
Raka ({R}{W}{U}..... Amer-Raka lol
They all have disciples and sanctuaries.
{Necra Disciple}, {Ana Disciple}, {Dega Disciple}, {Ceta Disciple}, {Raka Disciple}
You may not find this interesting but I do. You may have already known this but most probably do not. Just sharing the knowledge.

The official name for black white green is junk, white red blue is American or USA, black blue green is BUG, and the rest don't have names
I'm surprised you never heard of junk, from the deck junk rites or tokens and America from American control or mindrange
Hope this helped. And red blue green is called RUG.
Black white red is the only without a name.
I have heard of WBR being called Borzhov and German. Edit: also Weber
I thought those are unofficial names made up by players to recognize the unnamed colours.
Aren't America, Junk, RUG and BUG made up by players?
I wouldn't call it unofficial if tcgplayer start city games and even wizards when they've made
Articles made up by players.

That's what I'm saying though. "Made up by players." If wizards were to give these colours names they'd be more creative than BUG RUG Junk Borzhov and America. It's unofficial names created by players to describe what they're talking about.
Jund Bant Naya Esper and Grixis are official names, I don't think R&D would be lazy enough to give the other colours names like Bug Rug America Junk and Borzhov.
Technically none of the tri-color wedges have names. Bant, Naya... are name of shards of the planes of Alara. Let's not get technical, we use a lot of names that aren't official.

well at least with the shards of alara we have some sort of reasoning behind using those names. They're names that MtG put into the game.
Yes but RUG, BUG and America all have logic behind them.
From what I know, bug, rug, etc etc are player made, and the "official" names are based off of the -volver cycle

I thought that junk was just a name for throwing all the good stuff together.
Idk about that. I've always just said "goodstuff" for that. I hate that Junk is {G}{W}{B}. I like describing bad cards as junk, but I want to avoid saying "Man, {Goblin Dirigible} is junk" and someone says "No it isn't, it's colorless."

Yup. Those were out long before shards... Way back Invasion, Planeshift, and Apocolypse.
